At 0.8mm thick this Black Automotive grade double sided foam tape has a Permanent modified acrylic adhesive coated on both sides. With its closed cell construction it also forms a weatherproof and dustproof seal and futures excellent UV property. It is mainly used in the automotive trade for the fitting of trims and number plates, but it can also be used for external window trims and Point of Sale fittings along with thousands of other uses, including home, office, workshop, garden and garage.

A shame! I bought it for that purpose as it is black and would be less obvious from the outside. Will have to try another tape/sticky pad/thing.
I also noticed when using it with my number plates that a significant amount of the adhesive seems to come off on the temporary tape on the roll that you remove before sticking it to something, perhaps the bit I used for the dash cam didn't have much left. Either way, will try something else.
Update a month or two later:
Numberplate fell off as well, thankfully not while driving. This adhesive does not appear to have any resistance to temperature, and as I mentioned before, it does not appear to stick to the foam very well. In essence the glue is probably ok, and it sticks to what you stick it to, but it doesn't stay attached to the foam, so you end up with glue residue on the two things you wanted to stick together, and a piece of foam stuck to nothing!
Down rated to 2 stars as perhaps this could serve some purpose keeping something stuck where gravity is also helping? Perhaps I am being too generous, it is of no use to me and I have now bought something else.
Read up on the problem and it turns out that double sided foam tape was the ticket.
5 minutes work and I no longer had a black "tail" hanging out the side of my car.
Very strong adhesion too, high quality product.
First, the strips came loose while attaching the plates to the car which necessitating peeling it all off and starting again. The second time, to keep it secure, I tightly squeezed the plates down using cable ties and left those for a week for the glue to settle. A week after cutting the cable ties off the sticky had come loose and the edges of the number plates were hanging loose. I removed the plates and all of the strips came off cleanly with one pull off both car and number plate (that is how poor the glue is!)
£4 wasted on this sticky tape, I would give them zero stars if I could. I have ordered 2x plastic number plate frames instead for £6
The mounting surface was curved on two planes and I was sceptical it could hold with the curve but I used plenty of tape (about half the roll) and though temp was only about 1 or 2 degrees outside when fitted it has stuck really well!
