Chain tensioner is not up to the job. Very frustrating to use and adjust. Worst piece of kit I every bought. In fact, I wish it would break completely so I could replace it. Safety clutch is a pain in the neck.

I got mine cheap off ebay, and so was less worried about value. I used it to cut down a load of trees and chop them into logs. The GK1640 was the second electric chainsaw I've used, and I reckon it was easily better than my Dad's old one. I gave it rough treatment - cutting off trees flush with the ground and getting loads of dirt and grass jammed into the mechanism. Once I cleaned it all out it was none the worse for wear - even after bouncing off a few stones it kept cutting (I thought I'd wrecked the thing).

I love the way the powerful motor and longer bar allow the saw to sink into really thick logs. After a years of hand-sawing I am a convert to chainsaws, and this seems to be a good example of its type.

Bought on price and it worked very well at first, but after a while a few annoying faults developed. It was repaired under warranty three times during the warranty period and I frequently had to stop and retension the chain (a fiddley job) while logging.
I have since bought a similar item by Bosch and although a little more expensive I've cut up several large trees with it without any problems whatsoever.
If you are only going to use the saw occasionally, I would still recommend it for the price, as I passed it onto a friend who's still using it, but if you need a hardworking saw then I suggest you spend a bit more.
