I loved this story so much. Emotional, gut wrenching and just beautifully done. Pretty much perfection in print.

Characters, storyline... everything.... wow. Hats off to Cassia Leo - she nailed this one.

This is my first book by this author and I've heard such good things about her work . She is renowned for her somewhat dark and twisted romances but the idea of this story featuring two damaged almost star-crossed people attracted my attention. A romance aimed at young or new adults but a story to capture the interest and heart of all lovers of a good book.
Mikki is a young woman with little and no hope in her life. Tired of living and oh so tired of her mental pain she realises that release is her choice and freedom possible. Her plan is to travel to the ocean and take all those tablets she has secreted away but the flight she books will change the course of her life.
Crush is a young man torn asunder by guilt but he has channeled all his emotions into writing one song Black Box and he wants to travel to Los Angeles to perform it. He doesn't really expect fame or fortune but at the terminal he meets a young woman Mikki whose very essence calls to him but as they learn more about each other it's clear that fate has a strange way of leading us mere mortals through life and with love anything is possible.
What a unique book and so very different to what I expected. I can well understand now why this authors work has been so highly praised and from the very beginning the reader is pulled into the story as we follow Mikki and her very real wish to end her life. This sounds like such a dreadful premise and yet the author cleverly uses dual prospectives to bring her story to life with flashbacks that show previous events that resonate in the present. Such a multiple layered story that I felt as if I was unraveling the most beautiful and heartbreaking love story. Yes there is heartbreak in this book but there's love and hope too. Broken damaged people finding and saving each other.

Breathe into Me. Sara Fawkes
Review from Jeannie Zelos Book reviews.
So, I've read some cracking NA romances recently and the bar is set high. This time I did enjoy this book but though I anticipated a high rating it didn't quite make it to the top. I'm not sure why, Lacey was a great female lead, and Everett a good male one but I just couldn't seem to relate to them or their problems.
Lacey seems to be hit from all sides, her past, her family, her user friends, her jobs and her so so boyfriend -he's an awful player/manipulator, playing on her feelings of worthlessness. Throw in some asthma attacks, and I was so glad when she met Everett and he managed to overcome her cautions and gradually insinuate himself into her life. I'd kind of guessed a bit about Everett, but when the secrets and dirt came out and the S-hit hit the fan I was gob-smacked, didn't see that coming and didn't see how Lacey could get past it. But all clever authors have a plan, and of course Sara had it all worked out to perfection. It explained so much, about his past, and how and why he acted as he did in the present.
I think maybe for me there was just a bit too much drama in Lacey's life, and it took the focus away from her relationship with Everett. I love drama, lots of it, deep and dark, and then some great highs make a book for me. Somehow though there were so many awful things going on simultaneously to Lacey that it didn't really hit just how awful some of them were. Sort of like a drama fatigue, when the brain just switches off after so much, can't take in any more. One of those situations where for me Less is More.
Stars: Three and a half, its better than just a “good” but not quite a four for me.

I loved this story of Mikki and Crush!

Mikki is a 19 year old that is bipolar. she was bullied at her old school. She has one close friend and doesn't really go out. The one time she goes to a party with her best friend it goes completely wrong a tragedy occurs. Gone Through such a tragedy has left her not wanting to leave the house or around crowds and wanting to end her life. Saved by someone she didnt get to see but he left her his book. this heart breaking tragedy left her scarred inside and out.

Crush has been living with the guilt of the death of his bestfriend. Looking for his way out of life one night he had a plan set intell he see's something that saved his life. He saved a young girl. leaving behind his book for her after saving her life.

Mikki and Crush cross paths on three separate occasions. One saved her life, the second saved his as he saved her that night and the third he ends up saving her once again but from herself this time.

i do not think i can really put into words how amazing this book was! i fell in love with the characters and i was wanting more of Mikkie and Crush. Its a love story about fate if you ask me. Each time they ended up saving each other. I cried a bit in this book its a emotional read.

I love Cassia Leo and all of her books. This one was definitely different than what she normally writes. Mikki and Crush have been brought together by fate multiple times in their lives. There is one thing that they have in common that has had them looking for each other for yearsDo you believe in Fate? This bookbrought out every emotion in me. It was a very heart wrenching story that kept me turning pages until the very end. This is not your typical romance novel. It takes adeeper look into some rather touchy
subjects. Cassia did an amazing job and I can't wait to see what she is working on next. My favorite quote in the book is

"This black box is yours to keep, to stash all your troubles away. Just lock it up and call my name and I'll be there always."

I was given an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
