Product Description

These Mini Black Ammonite Fossils make great little gifts (~15-25mm) and are between 195 and 395 million years old. These ammonites once swam freely in the oceans and were squid-like creatures. These fossils are their beautifully preserved shells, a fascinating gift from an ancient world. Mini ammonites look stylish with other crystals or grouped around the home. They also make great gifts for older children interested in nature as they are inexpensive and a great way to tell them about the history of our planet. Cephalopods were marine, highly mobile swimmers, generally carnivorous. They achieved buoyancy by using chambers connected by a siphuncle to exchange pressure of gas thus adjusting density. Lovely little item, my autistic son is interested in prehistoric fossils and gems and this was the perfect size for a home made Christmas cracker. Even though it's tiny it has plenty of history and my son is mesmerised with it. Lovely keepsake.

As above really. Very disappointed with the size of each fossil. Around 15mm in diameter at most. Description gives weight not size. Aware that this is taken into account when considering cost of item.

Small black ammonite with some history about it. A nice addition to my sons collection. The one we received was about 3 cms in length and less than 1 cm thick.

I bought these for my nephew who is into fossils. He was delighted with them and insisted on taking them to school to show his teacher. I would certainly recommend them.

I would have preferred to pay more for a fossil I can hold in my hand : this one is really small. It also arrived 3 days late.
I knew it was mini (because some can be a meter large) but mine is only 1.5cm, I was expecting 3-4cm.
