These Mini Black Ammonite Fossils make great little gifts (~15-25mm) and are between 195 and 395 million years old. These ammonites once swam freely in the oceans and were squid-like creatures. These fossils are their beautifully preserved shells, a fascinating gift from an ancient world. Mini ammonites look stylish with other crystals or grouped around the home. They also make great gifts for older children interested in nature as they are inexpensive and a great way to tell them about the history of our planet. Cephalopods were marine, highly mobile swimmers, generally carnivorous. They achieved buoyancy by using chambers connected by a siphuncle to exchange pressure of gas thus adjusting density. A nice starter piece
I knew it was mini (because some can be a meter large) but mine is only 1.5cm, I was expecting 3-4cm.
