Liz Hedgecock grew up in London, England, did an English degree, and then took forever to start writing. After several years working in the National Health Service, a corporate writing course rekindled the flame, and various short stories followed. Some even won prizes. Then the short stories began to grow longer... Liz now lives in Cheshire with her husband and two sons, and when she’s not writing or child-wrangling you can usually find her reading, running, or cooing over stuff in museums and art galleries. Further info can be found at http://lizhedgecock.wordpress.com. For bite-sized pieces, follow Liz on Twitter at @lizhedgecock.

Like the chocolates on the cover these stories are very more-ish. Although literally bite-size they produce a roller-coaster of emotions; before you have finished enjoying the humour of one you will find yourself swept into the pathos of the next. A very unusual collection, perfect for grabbing a quick 2 minute read or settling down to devour a full layer. Beautifully written and highly recommended.

One of my mentors once told me that to write well you must read good work. And these flash fiction stories are just that. Quick. Funny. Thought-provoking. You can devour all the small bites at once, in one sitting, like I did the first time I read through them, or you can savor each story individually, one per day, perhaps two, but always you will be delighted. Though these stories may appear small, be prepared, for they pack a powerful punch. Each bit-of-a story pulls you in, in its own special way. They are separate, but like good chocolates, the box would be completely lacking without the others. I tried to pick a favorite, I’m genetically drawn to caramels, but alas, all these stories were SO good, I’d bite into anyone of them without regret. Highly recommended!
