Product Description

From the Back Cover

True love: good from the first bite . . .

Etienne Argeneau's three hundred years of bach-elorhood were at an end. Either that, or he'd be forever alone. He could turn only one human in his lifetime, and most of his kind created a life mate. If he turned this stranger . . . But what choice did he have? He had to help Rachel Garrett. The beautiful coroner had saved his life. To save hers, he would make her immortal.

. . . to the last

Rachel Garrett awoke surprised. All she'd wanted was to get off the night shift in the morgue; now here she was staggering to her feet naked and in a strange place. But everything would be all right. She'd just make like a bat out of Then she saw the man of her dreams emerging from his . . . coffin? And the look in his bright silver eyes said they'd be spending a lot of time together. She just hoped he tasted as good as he looked."

Lynsay Sands’ hit SINGLE WHITE VAMPIRE was the first in her series of books about a modern day dysfunctional vampire family the Argeneaus. Love Bites is the second and takes up the story of Etienne, Lucern’s younger brother. (These are the books
that Lucern has been writing that everyone thinks are just vampire romances!)
Rachel Garrett has been bouncing between chill and fever and it had nothing to do with the dead man on the table before her. She works in a hospital morgue, after all, so seeing dead bodies were a just part of a work. It was the flu. She needed to be in bed resting, but the caseload was stacking up so there was no time to pamper herself. Only to find a dead body handsome, well that MIGHT be attributed to the flu. But after, when she jokingly apologizes for having to cut away the expensive slacks and the corpse replies, she feels entirely justified in fainting.
After a week’s recovery, she is back on the job when they bring in another body, this one totally burned from a car explosion. As Rachel begins to remove his possessions and tag the body, she is puzzled when the body seems less charred, and then the blackened flesh begins to desquamate, sort of like a snake shedding its skin. Worse, she detects a heartbeat. Just as her mind is trying to adjust to this bizarre situation, an ax-wielding madman rushing into the room screaming for her to get away from the body that is was a vampire. She’s horrified when she sees this nutcase is going to cut off the head of the man - who may not be dead. Not giving a thought, she jumps in front of him as he brings the ax down. Too late Rachel understands her stupid mistake. Etienne awakes to find Rachel dying.

This time it's Etienne's story, who we met in SWV. Like the 1st. story it is very funny. I had to be careful where I read it because I would burst out loud laughing.
Rachel works in the morgue when Etienne is bought in after being shot. She is preparing him for a post mortem when he wakes up, shocking the poor girl into a faint. That's the 1st. time she faints, & there are loads of other times she faints as well, but we'll save them for later.
After being ill for a week, Rachel is back at work when Etienne is bought into the morgue again. This time from an explosion. This poor guy has no luck. Only this time an ax-wealding madman comes into the morgue determined to finish Etienne off by choping of his head. Only Rachel jumps in the way & saves his life. In return Etienne saves hers by turning her.
Once again Lynsay has given us a very passionate (remember the fainting I mentioned), funny, mad-cap story which is a very enjoyable read & a very enjoyable series. I can't wait to read Bastien's story coming out in July so i'm of to read "His immortal embrace" anthology which has another of Lynsay's vampire stories in it. I do hope there are more to this series in future. I just loved Thomas's character & can't wait for his story.

The second time he his brought in....she stops a lunatic from cutting off her corpses lovely head, and she gets hit with the axe instead....needlessly to say she saves him, then he as too save her, by making her like him. The only problem is, he can not bring over a lifemate, as only one female is allowed to be brought over.....But it helps they both fancy each other...so its pretty easy going....OR IS IT.....This is very entertaining and very funny in places. Etienne Argeneau has a problem. Pudge, a fan of his game Blood Lust, has become obsessed, realised Etienne is a vampire and keeps trying to kill him. After being run down and shot, Etienne is blown up and ends up in the morgue being examined by reluctant nightshift ME Dr Rachel Garrett. But when Pudge tries to behead Etienne Rachel gets in the way and ends up mortally wounded so Etienne returns the favour and saves her life in return...although with the realities of being a vampire, Rachel may not be willing to thank him.

This is the second book in the Argeneau/Rogue Hunter series (after A Quick Bite) which is one of my favourite paranormal romance series. This continues in the same funny vein as the previous installment with some laugh out loud moments mixed in with the romance and drama. The storyline is well plotted and paced and the threat of Pudge lingers in the background of the novel adding a level of tension. This book is also different in that the mortal is turned at the beginning, rather than after everything has been explained leading to some amusing scenes.

Etienne is a great lead and I love that he's really a closet computer geek. It was great to see him and Rachel bonding over a love of computer games. Rachel does well as a human dragged into a paranormal world, and her reluctance to accept her new reality is hilarious. It was interesting how the idea of vampires not being able to read their true mates mind played into their relationship, especially as Etienne had 300 years of being able to judge his flirting technique through the eyes of his date.
