HASH(0x99b44c60) out of 5 stars Birthright 31 Aug. 2011
By Amazon Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition Verified Purchase
Birthright was a lot of fun to read. It was like a cross between a spy thriller, a space opera and a noir detective novel. I liked the first-person narration, and I felt like the main character was almost a friend of mine by the end of the book. Best of all, while he was definitely heroic and ballsy, he wasn't perfect and he didn't claim to be. He made some mistakes in the book and knew it, and in the end he wasn't trying to be all noble and save the world, he just wanted to take care of his family and friends. I also loved the way that, once he and his friends decided that it was time to play rough, they didn't hold back anything but just left a gigantic trail of destruction behind them. If it had been a movie, I would have been clapping and saying "Hell yeah!" This is a really fun read and if you like lots of action, you'll love this book.

When I was finished reading this I sent it to a buddy on FOB Shank in Afghan, he's still there watching over things for me,till I back on my feet. It's books like these that make you want to get some..
Can't for the next one.

HASH(0x99bdfdd4) out of 5 stars A Good Balance of Characters and Plot 29 Sept. 2011
By ReaderMatt - Published on Amazon.com

One of the positive side-effects of Twitter is occasionally running across authors like Rick Partlow, Ric Locke and Michael R. Hicks. I just finished Birthright, and it was an extremely fun read. The character development was strong and the first-person narration, with occasional sidebars from a different point of view really helped to round out the plot. I guess the highest praise I can give a book is to want a copy in hardcover to add to my shelves. I do hope this is part of a series.

HASH(0x99bdfd98) out of 5 stars A Very good read. 25 Sept. 2011

Military SF that makes me think of David Drake. Fast paced but not so full of constant action that there wasn't a real plot and a real sense of the characters. I finished this book in a day and a half and am now looking to see if it's part of a series... I'm HOPING it's part of a series.

HASH(0x99be10a8) out of 5 stars great story 2 Nov. 2011
By Mike B - Published on Amazon.com

This is a really good science fiction story ... not quite as good as "Duty, Honor, Planet", but very close. If you like good SF, with an interesting storyline, get this one. The price is right.

In fact, some of the very best SF and Fantasy books I've read on my Kindle were $0.99 or less. Get it, you'll enjoy it.

HASH(0x99be1108) out of 5 stars Great Story Great Price 14 Oct. 2011

When I purchased this book for $0.99 on Amazon, I wasn't sure what I would get, but after reading Birthright I can honestly say it was worth more. Great story and fun characters. I would love a followup to this one.
