I was looking for a birth book for my terrified of giving birth friend & stumbled upon this. I wish I'd found this when I was pregnant..the author uses humour and great knowledge to put across that birth does not have to be scary. She reminds us that the female body is built for this task but if it does become too hard then it's ok to have intervention. In a society where everyone's trying to be superwoman & compete, this non-judgemental book is just what we need. Lovely honest birth stories too.

As a midwife and childbirth educator, I would strongly recommend this book. The honest, personal and relaxed writing style is engaging and enjoyable! The birth stories and the information shared by the author on key aspects of natural childbirth, such as the fear-tension-pain cycle are interesting and useful. A great read for any mums to be and for any midwives or childbirth educators looking for inspiration.

I have been teaching Yoga for Pregnancy for more than 7 years now, and thoroughly recommend this book. Cheryl's advice here rings very true for me, and accurately reflects everything I've learned from my wonderful students. This book won't teach you the Yoga postures and practices you need, but that's a refreshing thing to see as no book can really teach you that anyway. Instead Cheryl brings you the wisdom from her experiences and those of the many mums she has worked with, and shows you how developing a more positive attitude towards your coming birth experience will take you most of the way. Have a read at this book and then you'll be set to find a good Pregnancy Yoga teacher to guide you towards a positive birth.

This book is practical, interesting and dispels any fear or mystique around birth. Birth ROCKS highlights the importance of choice for women and their birth partners and how to feel confident about the choices that you make. It is an empowering and honest book that increases your confidence in knowing that whatever turn your birthing may take you can be prepared through using the tools and techniques mentioned. A must read for any mum and dad to be!

It definitely fills some gaps that currently exist in the general public's knowledge about childbirth. Giving a realistic but positive outlook, and steering away from fear and pain, as well as from happy-go-lucky views, is the way forward.
Very useful for pregnant ladies, but also for those that already have children.
I couldn't agree more.. Birth ROCKS!

Great, easy to read book.... Although, I was a little shocked how some of the grammar & spelling mistakes had made it past final editing?!! Was a little like reading a rushed piece of work at times that hadn't been double checked for errors! All that said, I found the book inspiring & mon judgemental with lovely true birth stories.
