Disappointed to discover a printing error in the book about 3/4 of the way through (a blank page). This might not seem like a big problem until you realise that instead of the written description and pictures being shown on the same open page, the description switches to being on the back of the picture page. This is resolved about twenty pages later with a second blank page. Cue much confusion as you try to work out where you are in the book to where you should try and find correct names for the bird you have seen. A shame to an otherwise helpful book. Wouldnt buy again unless the error is corrected.

This book is faulty. From page 208 which is a blank page the text is printed incorrectly and does not match the facing plates. I only discovered this when using on holiday in India. I would like a return label and full credit please.

An excellent field guide with good plates...The text is basic but has enough info for quick I/D of all species within that area...the large sized numbers corresponding to the plates on each page are readily identified for quick analysis....it is slightly lighter than the full Sub-Continent guide which you may not need if only searching in the Northern areas and let's face it... any reduction in the weight of your kit has to be a priority for birdwatchers, especially when carrying binoculars, telescopes and cameras......the book is a worthy and acceptable addition...

Excellent for use in the field and much more convenient, (if just visiting this part of India), than the full-size hardback Birds of the Indian Subcontinent, of which it is a subset.

Does no one proof these before they are published. A blank page causes all the descriptions to appear on the back of the plates for several pages before a missing page corrects it.

An excellent book which provided all our needs for the game reserves in the region of The Golden Triangle of Northern India.

Just returned from Northern India and found this field guide very good. The binding stood up well with the continual use and the illustrations appeared accurate. Disappointed the key field recognition features were not identified on the colour plates (arrow or line). The plumage variations were well illustrated but (a very minor point) I found some a little jumbled for quick reference. Having now used the SASOL Birds of Southern Africa, I wonder why all guides do not have the "pencilled" outline around all plumage illustrations.
