Not being sure of which to go for, I purchased this and the Helm guide together; they are excellent books and I will be happy to keep and use both. However, if I had been forced to chose, this is superior in layout and detail.
The book is well bound, with a hard cover and dust sheet as opposed to rather flimsy binding and thin card cover of the Helm guide - I have no doubt which will survive longer with regular use!
It is not too big or heavy to carry so has its place in my rucksack. I also enjoy browsing through it before I set off in the hope that I'll have some idea of features to look out for.
A book that has already earned its place in my collection.
