The Six Million Dollar Man and the Bionic Woman were good fun science fiction sereis from the 1970s which ended in 1978.
Ten years later there was the reunion TV movie "The return of" which was a good one off reunion of both main characters. Then in 1989 came this second reunion TV movie called "bionic showdown".
This TV movie is not as good as the earlier TV movie but does have some good moments. It also stars Sandra Bullock as a new Bionic Woman who together with the original Bionic heroes ~ Steve Austin and Jamie Sommers, try to bring some baddies, (who have a bionic man) to justice. The plot line is a bit weak, and the pace of the production is a bit slow. There are not many actual Bionic stunts and the climax is very weak. After a long build up it is all over in seconds. However the drama is fairly good and there is a good visual effect during the rare bionic stunts. Generally a reasonable effort and a welcome chance to see more of our two heroes. But it is also a bit of a wasted opportunity.
If you are a fan of the original TV series or earlier TV movie then it is worth investigating this effort.

i love the original bionic series, but this doesnt do them justice at all.. the original series can look dated now, but they are still far superior to this effort...there is hardly any bionic action at all..which wouldnt be so bad if the storyline was gripping.. but it was rubbish.. a real sufferance

i wouldnt hold it against it the movie with it being an oldish film now.. but it still looked really dated, with nothing to compensate for it.. ie good story line, action, scenery etc

i like the bionic stuff, and sandra bullock and all.. but this is a let down.. if i were to tell the younger generation about the bionic shows.. this would be the one i would try to hide away.. lest they never want to watch another!

Enjoyable film. A continuation of the bionic heroes. Let down by the lack of extras on the DVD but the film itself is worth watching.

If you savoured "The Six Million Dollar Man" and believed in "The Bionic Woman" -- and if you had the chance to relish "Return Of The Six Million Dollar Man And The Bionic Woman" -- this showdown's got your name on it -- IF you tan take the typical chick-flick romantic barbs that most projects with Sandra Bullock contain (and, for that matter, if you could also stomach by then-relatively contemporary romance-combative content of "Cheers" and "Moonlighting".) Middle-act films in trilogies -- accidental or otherwise -- don't tend to be as good as their "Acts 1 and 3" counterparts. However, Sandra Bullock's bionic character is not as bad as it could have been. Bullock's character in "Bionic Showdown" was not wieghed-down by, shall we say, the "Gravity" of the bullying baggage found in nearly all female TV/film/comic/web-show heroic characters (where they might as well say, I am Bully -- hear me roar!" No, this pre-"The Net" Bullock, as super-heroines go, along with her bionic predecessors (Lee Majors and Lindsay Wagner) does a great turn in saving the day in updated bionic fashion. If you can endure this bionic chick-flick (that's "bionic romantic action-comedy" to you, Lady Oh) -- or are a fan of the good old "Bionic TV' shows -- check this one out.

Great action by Lee Majors and also Lyndsay Wagner. Very watchable, still iconic after all this time. The very best.
