The Billionaire's Holiday Obsession, Nadia Lee
review from Jeannie Zelos book reviews
I enjoyed the first book in this series, featuring Mark and Hilary, and thought this one sounded fun too. Its not a series that pretends to be anything other than a solid, fun romance. Sometimes that’s what I need after reading some paranormal or fantasy, something to lighten my mood and mind, and this book was perfect for that.
First thing you have to do though is suspend normal rules of behaviour, as the book takes circumstances and changes them into ones that frankly would be really, really unlikely. If you can’t do that you won’t enjoy the story, but be thinking “ he/she wouldn’t do that” or “that would never happen” ....and the story will simply fall flat.
So Jane, she’s been ripped off by her ex, is tired of being the family dogsbody, determines to make it as a chef/cook, so she leaves home to go to elsewhere and find her perfect job. That also takes her away from the ex who wants more money, and is very unpleasant and threatening about it. She ends up in a city where she’s jobless and homeless, sleeping in her car, and in despair after yet another failed interview. On returning back she finds her car has been trashed and her clothes defecated on....she screams in frustration, and hearing that her knight ( in a posh car not on a white horse!) comes along. Iain is an old fashioned man, and can’t simply leave her but doesn’t want to get involved. She asks for a lift to a church which may have a shelter, and after hearing her story he offers her money. Jane has pride though and can’t take it, and somehow he ends up letting her stay at his home, and having asked his restaurant owing brother for a job for her, washing dishes and prepping only, but it’s a foot in the door.

We say hello again the dysfunctional Pryce Family. We first met them as side line characters in the Billionaires in Love series and the Mark Pryce starred in the first book in this series. You don’t need to have read the previous books to enjoy this one, it is standalone, but as I enjoyed the others I of course recommend you give them a try.

Anyway, I said dysfunctional and I meant it. The disrespect of monogamy shown by the Pryce siblings parents has warped their view of relationships. Their father is notorious for his many and frequent affairs, he makes no secret of it and the pre-nup his wife signed leaves her stranded if she leaves him or if she cheats. Maybe in retaliation or maybe from loneliness, she does have affairs but she believes no one is aware of hers. As you might have guessed, their now grown up children think love is a fantasy, that like father like son they are destined to be cheaters. The aren’t looking for permanence, just fun.

Iain has backed away from life in general and is living in a self-contained bubble after he ceased his MMA career years earlier due to a public brawl. He needs his controlled environment to help maintain his zen (mediation is the answer to everything apparently). Along comes Jane and is a threat to all things calm but he can’t leave her stranded, he sees something in her of his old self and feels the need to help. He helps her get a job, takes her in and in turn she shakes up his sedate and calm life.

We get to see the cool, calm and composed Iain start to bubble, boil and then explode as his serenity is destroyed by Jane as she dodges the attention of a conman and tries to decide if the course in life she has chosen is really what she wants or is what she thinks she should want.

Another great book by Nadia Lee.

Title: The Billionaire's Inconvenient Obsession

Since falling for conman Gio's lines, Jane Connolly's world has been turned upside down. Now determined not to return home until she's proved herself, she's living out of her car and trying to find a job. Except that Gio won't let her go and when Iain Pryce finds her her car has been ruined. Iain gave up MMA fighting 13 years ago and walled himself off from his emotions and from caring, except that there is something about Jane that messes with his calm. If only he can shake it.

Nadia Lee never fails to provide engaging characters and a great story, and The Billionaire's Inconvenient Obsession definitely doesn't fail to deliver! Despite the series being about the rich (and somewhat famous) Pryce family, it is clear early on in the book that money isn't really an issue for the Pryce men, from comments both Mark (from the previous book) and Iain made it wasn't about money for them.

Jane was a really strong female character. All of the women in Lee's novels are strong in their own way, but Jane is determined in a way that puts the rest of them to shame. She was just a normal woman and that meant that she was determined to make her own way. I really liked how there wasn't that much focus on how she looked, more on how she felt and how beautiful she was to Iain more than anything else.

Relationship wise, Iain and Jane's relationship was one that progressed naturally. There was no big love at first sight moment (though there was intrigue and lust at first sight!
