Beautifully made, but no better customer support than a far eastern manufacturer.

These are beautifully made for what they are, but they lack flexibility in terms of their internal layout compared to other brands. They're very very expensive. You don't buy a Rolls-Royce based on price, However there is the problem, if you buy a Rolls-Royce it comes with the best of everything and the service from the manufacturer is second to none. Sadly even though these are sold at a very high price Billingham choose not to include their new more comfortable shoulder pad as standard, you have to pay extra for it! The types of dividers inside are very limited in their lay out. Billingham are also unwilling to sell spare parts and materials.
If you buy a modern designed bag from the likes of Lowepro or Tamrac you get things like their latest shoulder pad as standard. They're also willing to sell you replacement parts beyond what could be described as accessories.
The beauty of ordering from a British manufacturer should be that you can obtain spares (like bits of thread) easily. You should even be able to get minor adaptations to standard parts done at the factory (for a price obviously).
Sadly Billingham aren't interested, they're selling a premium product, but not offering premium after sales. Fairly typical of British Manufacturing, and why you're often better off paying less for a product produced in the far east.
