One of the most beautifully produced books I've ever read. In words, buy most of all with arthouse standard photographs and layout a homage to those who build and maintain bikes - The Huffington Post
An essential guide for any cyclist for whom only the best will do when it comes to their beloved machines RoadCyclingUK
As with all things Rouleur, Bike Mechanic is beautifully presented... filled with wonderful photography that really gets behind the scenes of the pro teams and in the mechanic's workshop. If you're looking for a birthday or Christmas present to give to a serious cyclist, this is absolutely perfect...will be a well thumbed reference book in 20 years time. - Sportive.com
If you think you know everything there is to know about bicycle mechanics (both the process and the individuals), this is the very book for you, as indeed it is also even if you can't tell the difference between a bb30 bottom bracket and a quick-release skewer. for those of us who could spend hours simply staring at a campagnolo peanut butter spanner, it is manna from heaven. thewashingmachinepost
An excellent read for dark winter evenings, fun to just browse through, and would be a fine gift for any cyclist, even one with or without a workstand. --PezCyclingNews
From the Back Cover
The bicycle workshop is a magical place, filled with the heady smell of fresh rubber and the gleam of hand tools. The craft s highest expression, however, is found on the racing circuit, where the mechanics of the World Tour work late into the night to keep the bikes of cycling s superstars spinning flawlessly. "Bike Mechanic" takes readers behind the scenes to reveal how it s done.
Bike Mechanic" will show you precisely how to set up your bike while entertaining you with true stories from the back of the truck at the spring classics, the Tour de France, and the service course. * On the road which ccovers the daily rountine of prfessional mechanic, the behind the seen look tha gets little attention
* Hardware which talks you through tools used by professional
* The bike which covers a series of tips to maintain the key parts of the bike.
As to the binding, the book is of an irreproachable quality, the paper is thick, smooth and glossy (Rouleur finition). This book will be the perfect Christmas present for a cycling and mechanic enthusiast.
One query, on p267 the torque for a "seatpost fixing bolt" is suggested at 30Nm. The single bolts on the saddle clamps I've used come in about 12-15Nm (depending on brand & material), two bolt saddles about half that. Seatpost collars are recommended at values ranging from 2.8-6.8Nm depending on brand and material. Is the 30 meant to be foot-lbs?
