Product Description

Colourbrain: A Family Game filled with Crafty, Colourful Questions

Say hello to the newest member of your family games cupboard. Gather everyone around the table, hand out eleven Colour Cards to each player and get ready to take each other on in the technicolour trivia board game, Colourbrain.

Perfect for the family who want the best of both worlds, Colourbrain mixes the tense, competitive nature of board games like Ticket to Ride and Labyrinth with the fun, anything-can-happen moments of family games like Articulate and Dobble. With points only being awarded to players when the other team’s fail, Colourbrain is one of those board games that’s sure to get hearts racing and family members laughing as they race towards the finish line.

The board game comes with over 300 Question Cards, covering loads of different subjects. From Pot Noodle to Pubs, Noddy to Netflix, we’ve written these questions with the whole family in mind. So if you’re used to watching Dad win every time at family games like Trivial Pursuit, it’s time to think again – this time, it’s anyone’s game.

Like most family games, the rules are simple. Here’s how you play:

Start by splitting everyone up into teams of one or more. Hand each team a set of eleven Colour Cards and one random Colour Capture Card. Place the deck of Question Cards in the middle of the table.

Each question is answered by one (or more) of the colours in your hand. For example: “What colour is the lid on a marmite jar?”

Each team places their colours in the middle, face-down. When everyone’s ready, they show everyone which colours they’ve chosen, then flip the Question Card to reveal the answer.

If a team gets the answer right, they only win points if at least one of the other teams got it wrong. That means if everyone (or no one) got it right, nobody gets any points!

Return the Colour Cards back to your hand and take on a new Question Card. The first team to reach ten points, wins!

Colourbrain What colour is the lid on a jar of marmite? How about a phone box in Japan? Or the lights on the wings of a plane? In Colourbrain, each team faces a crafty colour-themed question. Luckily, they’ve been given all the answers to begin with – they just need to choose the right ones. Using the eleven Colour Cards in their hands, players must decide which cards to put down in answer to the question. Get the answer right and you’re halfway there. Now just wait for one of the other teams to get it wrong and watch the points come rolling in.

Hand each player (or team) eleven Colour Cards. Next, grab a Question Card and reveal the first question. Players must decide which colour (or colours) to put down to answer.

Once everyone’s ready, players reveal their answers by flipping over their Colour Cards. Next, turn over the Question Card to find out who got it right.

If a player got it right, they only earn a point if another player got it wrong. That means if everyone (or no one) got it right, nobody gets any points!

Big and Potatoish

How did you come up with the idea for this product?

After we invented our first game Linkee, we realised that a lot of games on the High Street were looking a bit old and tired. So we created Big Potato Games. It’s mission: to create, craft and curate unusual new games for the good folk of Britain and beyond to enjoy.

What makes your product special?

We make games that we’d happily shell out money for ourselves. We spend ages making them look good and giving them a distinctive tone of voice. Our games also have to stick to our strict rule of three — easy to learn, quick to play and seriously moreish.

What has been the best part of your experience?

It’s great being your own boss. If we believe in a game we just crack on and do it. It’s amazing hearing from people and how much they enjoy our games. It’s also really rewarding building a brand and knowing that the better we do, the more new potatoes we can hire and the economy gets a little helping hand along the way.
