Good film with great fight scenes!!

However, If your looking for the original 'The Big Boss' without any of the rubbish editing then this is not the dvd for you. Why did they change the credit theme?? Now its as if Bruce's character is feeling sorrow for what he did rather than triumph!

The only place I have found the original 'The Big Boss' is the 30th anniversary box set, which I definitely recommend!

The editing of this film is the only reason I have not give it 5 stars.

Bruce Lee's first martial arts film and a superb debut. Good realistic fight choreography. Excellent villain (Han Ying Chieh) and a nice comic turn from supporting actor Li Kun. The film shifts a gear towards the end and becomes slightly horrific (body -parts hidden in blocks of ice by the drug gang). The music score in the english version is a plus featuring a cracking theme and effective incedental tracks, the best of which is the power guitar/synthesiser track that leads in to the final duel. As always the UK print is cut, but not as bad as his other films therefore I rate it 4 stars (5 without cuts).

Nothing to say about the film as we all know it's great.
Really impressed by the blu-ray version, the picture is clear and for the most part crisp and detailed.
I like that there is lots of audio tracks to choose from, I personally like the Cantonese mono track as I grew up with that version.

Nothing really new with the bonus features, however the original trailers are hilarious with literal translated text and spelling mistakes.

Looking forward to watching the other blu-rays.

i think "the big boss" is a little rough round the edges as some of the fight scenes are a bit clumsily done and you get the usual problem of witnessing some of the worst dubbing put onto a film.
however, this is "edge of your seat" stuff once bruce lee becomes involved in the proceedings. promising his mother that he will cease to get into fights, lee resists the temptation for quite some time into the film until push comes to shove and then he's punching and kicking along with the best of them. the film suddenly increases a notch or two from then on as lee takes on the dope smugglers who hide their naracotics within the ice blocks at the local ice factory.
this is still not completely uncut as the rather infamous "saw" footage is in the hands of a private film collector and who refuses to allow his print of the film to be released. sounds like a bit of a spoil sport.
however, this dvd release has been restored by approximately 1 and a half minutes or more. that might not sound like very much but several previously unseen clips have now re-surfaced and i for one, am relieved at this.
the special features are quite plentful, the interviews are probably the best features as they both insightful and informative.

An outstanding performance from the Master. This was his break-through film and it is easy to see why the Hollywood directors were keen to sign Bruce up.
A majestic display of martial arts.

Bruce Lee Is Finally available on Bluray in the UK and they have done a great job. All his iconic films have been released and they are also packed full of extras and the films have been restored frame by frame like the films were made yesterday. The Covers are double sided with the film poster in the sleeve so you can change it if you wish, and also has a tiny booklet with information about the film overall Great Bluray set and Great Film.
