Leonard and Sheldon are brilliant physicists, the kind of beautiful minds that understand how the universe works. But none of that genius helps them interact with people, especially women. All this begins to change when a free-spirited beauty named Penny moves in next door. Sheldon, Leonard's roommate, is quite content spending his nights playing Klingon Boggle with their socially dysfunctional friends, fellow Caltech scientists Wolowitz and Koothrappali. However, Leonard sees in Penny a whole new universe of possibilities including love..

Now, I should mention however that the first episode of this season scared to hell out of me, because it was so bad, I was like OMG what have they done, who are these annoying characters, which were plainly awful and irritating, it was like they stepped back in time into a terrible 70's broad sitcom, it was gross, even some of the clothing worn harked back to period. But thankfully these character's (Penny's brother and mother) didn't stick around, and from episode 2, we get back to classic BBT entertainment, which doesn't dissappoint. I dont know why they had to scare us like that, perhaps they were just proving a point, by showing us how easy it would be for them to ruin a great show.
To repeat, be warned the first episode of this season is absolutely awful, and should have a health warning, for the characters introduced just burn the screen with their ineptitude or hammy cheese, anyway thank the stars that from episode 2, we are treated to classic Big Bang fare, and the story and our favourite characters do what they do best.
Great season, while season 8 is perhaps the weakest of them all, with a handful of not so good episodes, it is still a great season, and this season is about the same in quality as 8 and 9, it is let down by that first episode which is by far the worst episode of the entire show's history, and the characters therein will be the subject of nightmares to come.
Funny situations continue, and let's hope the series too.
