If you have been following my blog for a while, you know that I am a big Katy Regnery fan. Bidding on Brooks is a start of a new series and the best thing about it: It’s connected to the English Brothers series.
The story follows the oldest Winslow brother. He is a former sailing Olympian and he lives for that sport. His father died of a heart attack when Brooks was only 17 years old, he was the father to his younger siblings and now getting closer to 40 he is scared the same thing will happen to him. This is also the reason he doesn’t let girls close, because he doesn’t want commitment or a relationship. He still has his ways of meeting girls…
Skye Sorenson is not the typical girl. She is a mechanic, lives by the marina with her father and enjoys sailing and being on the water, she also enjoys her sunsets (loved this fact). She has been secretly in love with Brooks for 20 years, ever since she saw him sailing away one day.
The two of them have been ever since, but not more than friends. When Brooks’ sister Jessica is planning an auction for her wedding, she offers Brooks and a sail with him as a price. Brooks is really not in the mood for it and asks Skye to bid on him. She eventually agrees and at the day of the auction she goes to buy a dress. She meets lovely Clay, who helps her with everything and makes her look stunning. She arrives just in time for the auction and Brooks is stunned by her appearance. They share a really intense moment, but Skye has a boyfriend and anyway…
Starting the journey, the tension between them is on fire and their connection is getting more passionate by the minute.Read more ›
Skye works as a mechanic at the marina which is owned by her father. She has known Brooks forever. When Brooks tells Skye that she needs to bid on him and to win the auction she is hesitant. Eventually it's his sail boat that wins her over. He promises her she can be the skipper and his boat is amazing. Skye wants nothing more than to sail on it.
After winning the auction Brooks and Skye are ready to leave with the boat. A photographer will be shooting pictures of them at various occasions to document how their trip is going. Being on a sailboat together 24 hours a day is triggering the attraction between them. When they sail into a storm and Skye falls overboard Brooks can no longer deny the feelings he has developed for her. Will they be able to overcome the old secrets which are inevitably surfacing though?
Bidding on Brooks is such a sweet story. Brooks and Skye are a perfect pair. Skye is a hard working mechanic and I love that about her. She's sweet and doesn’t deserve the rumors that people are spreading about her. I really like it when women are strong and capable of handling their own business.
This is not my first book by Katy Regnery and it certainly won’t be the last. Her stories are perfect for a romantic getaway. You will feel like you are out on the sea together with Brooks and Skye while the wind is blowing through your hair.
The wind and the water – Skye and Brooks. They were meant to be!
After twenty years of friendship, Skye does Brooks a favour by bidding on him at a bachelor auction. At the same time, she completely opens his eyes to the real Skye. She’s not the scruffy, nondescript woman hiding under a ball cap and baggy overalls, but a beautiful goddess, who’s fun, sassy and brave. He’s woken up to a dream and finds himself falling in love with his friend,
Skye has had a crush on him since she was ten, but has always accepted that they are from different walks of life and that he is unattainable, so she settles for their comfortable friendship, with their love of sailing in common.
Brooks has avoided falling in love, thinking that he is doomed to his father’s fate and an early death. He uses an escort service to avoid relationship complications and hurting anyone.
Their love story unfolds over a week of sailing together and living at close quarters. I adored how comfortable Brooks and Skye were with one another and I loved how simple and fulfilling their love story was, with some wonderful, sexy tension between them. They encountered hiccups along the way, but nothing insurmountable. Loved it!
