I have used this everywhere whilst potty training.
As we all know in the early months of training when they need to go they have to go. I have used this in the freezer section in Tesco, the beer section and electricals. oh what I hear you cry - I'm sure the staff would rather you do this than have a child wee on the floor and then have to shut a section of so they can clean the floor.
Honestly this is so good. When out shopping she will use it in the footwell of the car before we go into the shops etc.
This is one purchase that I have recommended to my other friends that have now since gone on to buy themselves.
Well worth the buy.
It comes with a plastic bag that has a drawstring closure. In that bag, I put the Potette, a bag of liners (they come 30 to a bag), some flushable wipes, and a bag of nappy sacks. (The nappy sacks come in handy for wet clothes if he has an accident.) Then I put that bag in a reusable grocery tote with a few changes of clothes for those times he has accidents. I carry this with me EVERYWHERE. It's always in my car, and unless I'm at work, it's with me.
We've used the Potette at church, in a shop, at the grocery store, at the playground, on the side of the road, on the beach, at historic houses, on the Brighton Pier, you name it! I've already been through one bag of liners, and I've only had it about a month.
It's built solid, only takes a second to pop up, and is just super easy to use.
The only thing I'd make parents of boys aware of is that the lip of the seat is really small, and if they sit to pee, be prepare for some splashing. I've had to teach my son how to help his little guy point down to avoid creating messes. Sometimes the messes still happen. But overall, I'd say it's still well worth it to have a potty he's willing to use!
He loves using it. He calls it his "froggy potty" because of the absorbent pad with froggies on the bottome of the bag. The few times I've been out and have forgetten the "froggy potty" have not been pretty!Read more ›
Unfortunately I sorely regret buying the Potette, not because its so expensive but because its so overpriced. The whole thing should be sold for £5 tops. Its the cheapest plastic with the cheapest, most un-user friendly folding mechanism (you have to yank the legs which takes far too long and is frustrating and can take a few attempts each time). I had ignored the reviews of people mentioning problems with the legs as I'd assumed they were klutzes and just couldn't follow the instructions correctly. No. The Potette really is that awkward to use.
In addition the liner bags are simply normal plastic bags with a bit of a (heavily scented) paper in the bottom to absorb wee. Yes, normal plastic bags. And they do not at all feel durable and I don't trust they wouldn't leak or rip easily.
The Potette, when folded does save a bit of space compared to carrying a potty around but it is much less user-friendly. Most importantly, it doesn't feel at all comfortable or robust, especially for a little boy. It is also ridiculously rubbish as a toilet seat compared to the BabyBjorn Trainer Seat which is absolute luxury in comparison. I wouldn't recommend using it as a toilet seat to anyone, mostly because the thing slips around so you would need to place your child on it which isn't practical if you have a child that insists on doing everything themselves, including getting onto the toilet.Read more ›
