4.0 out of 5 stars BIBLE WORDS - THESAURUS STYLE 15 Oct. 2012
By LOVE OUR MILITARY MEN - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition Verified Purchase
This BIBLE WORDS is a complete compilation of Bible words assembled to be used as a reference tool and is a complementary study aid. I was expecting, initially, a dictionary (my fault for not reading the product description - oops!), but it is actually designed to help users learn the precise words and is organized thematically, so that it groups words with similar meanings by various subjects. Like another reviewer, I had quite a difficult time navigating through this book (it's quite comprehensive), as I am somewhat new to the KINDLE format, but stayed with it and have found it a nice supplement for occasional study issues. So if you are new to KINDLE (like myself), I have attempted to list what 'hopefully' is a few helpful tips after much struggle, so as to maximize this thesaurus (which may not be needed for 'veteran' KINDLE users). They are listed below. (Although I paid for this book, I noticed that if you are an Amazon Prime member, you can "borrow" this - this is a good idea as (unless this is something you would be using regularly or are in bible college etc.) this is a reference type book that generally is only used occasionally. Just a thought.) Enjoy!

1) I would recommend "Bible Words" in the TWO COLUMN style. You can change the number of columns by clicking on the icon that looks like an open book at the top.
It is on the same line as the LIBRARY button, the sixth (6) icon over.

2) If you want to change the type size, it is the fifth (5) icon in that row. If you click it, you can move the bar to change the type size to whatever works for you.

3) The best place to get an overview of Bible Words is to look in the "Table of Contents". When you are in Kindle, look at the very top. You will see a line that says -
FILE VIEW GO TOOLS HELP. Click on GO. Then when the box pops up, click on the third option, TABLE OF CONTENTS. (Take some time and look at the major categories
to get an overview of the book. I really enjoyed looking into some of the categories like Animals and Craftwork. The listing of the words really does tell a lot about the
important (and sometimes 'small') parts of bible times.)

4) If you are looking for a specific word, use the SEARCH feature. It appears on my computer as a MAGNIFYING GLASS and you will open a window with the MAGNIFYING
GLASS, plus the word SEARCH. Type in whatever word you are looking for. As an example, if you are looking for the word EAGLE, it will show you that a variation of the
word EAGLE appears in three places as EAGLE, GIER-EAGLE and EAGLE-EYE. Just click on that word reference, and it will take you to it immediately. You don't need to
search manually through the book.

5) Be sure to read the instructions in the INTRODUCTION of the book on navigating in and out of Wikipedia.
5.0 out of 5 stars Very good reference books for archaic Bible words 22 Feb. 2014
By Krkrjk - Published on Amazon.com

The King James Translators admonished the readers of their version in their 1611 preface to keep the Bible in the language of the people. They knew the meanings and nuances of words would change over the years and, rightly so, expected the Bible to maintain pace so the everyday man, woman or child would be able to read the Bible without having to keep a dictionary or special book like this handy. Instead, people have so venerated the KJV 1611-1769 over the priority of keeping the Bible in the vernacular of everyday people like you and me that books like this one still have a valuable place in our libraries.
3.0 out of 5 stars Somewhat confusing 6 Jun. 2016
By Walk'n and Talk'n Classes - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition Verified Purchase
1/ Seems like an advertisement for their new bible
2a/ Not fully explained - for instance, why are many words greyed out?
2b/ There is no guidance as to what the reader is looking at on each page

I was disappointed - all it does is tell me what verses an ENGLISH word appears in - there are other and more efficient tools that give me that information.

I like this book because it helped me understand the root reason for a word. I think it's a keeper.
