When my 4 year old twins asked me, 'Who's Jesus?' I realised something must be done - in the interest of general knowledge,at least. This book is a great whip-through of many of the best known bible stories from the Old and New Testaments - Noah, Daniel, David and Goliath, plus Christmas story, miracles, Easter etc.....It's not exactly the King James Bible. However, the text is very clear and simple, suitable for very young children, and could also be undertaken by a learner reader. (A French-speaking friend has ordered it to help her children with their English.) Illustrations are colourful and attractive.

Usbourne are great at this sort of thing! The Bible stories are great and written in clear simple language, without loosing any of the stories meaning. Each page has a sentence that beginner readers can read and a couple more for for grown ups to keep the story going. The pictures are bright and clear too. There is a good split between stories from Old Testament and New Testament (only Jesus stories). My only critisism would be that there is no creation story. Our kids love it and it is great to share it with them.

charming, well done, good illustrations, cheerful and pleasant, the text balancing neatly between informative and proselytizing..this book is, as usborne's products usually are, sensible, straight-forward and good for its purpose, which is to tell the essential bible stories to people who are interested in other cultures and wish to find out more...
