Not being a theologian but fascinated by the challenge of engaging my Christian faith with the post-modern culture I see all around me, I was very interested to read this seminal work by Stanley Grenz. It certainly stretched my mind and I was particularly impressed with the focus on the key dimensions of the Trinity and Community for the future of evangelical belief and practice. It was not until I read Steven Knowles (2010) ("Beyond Evangelicalism: The Theological Methodology of Stanley J Grenz" Farnham: Ashgate) that I appreciated the strengths and limitations of Grenz's ideas and writing. I am glad to have read Grenz and even more to have had the critical dimension of Knowles alongside me - I would commend both as a stimulus to thinking and faith in practice.
