The book broadly splits into three sections. First he deals with the conventional methods of training. If you have been into a gym the image of a narcissistic pump artist will ring true and it is with this style of training that McRobert takes issue. Not on anything but a productivity level however. These traditional high frequency high volume sessions are practically and physically demanding and most galling, inefficient. He tells you what you will need in terms of both equipment and application and does not sugar coat the message. He aims to instil a positive attitude towards training.
The second part of the book is vastly impressive. I had been turned on to McRobert's methods out of interest many years ago. His emphasis on compound lifting is unexceptional. As I see it such an emphasis is the bare minimum in a worthwhile text. Anything else should set alarm bells ringing.Read more ›
