Product Description

Product Description

The digital revolution has found its way into the bathroom with the Beurer BF100 body-complete diagnostic scales as it can beam in-depth full-body statistics regarding your nutritional health direct to the palm of your hand using wireless technology. Measures weight, body fat, body water, muscle mass, bone mass and AMR/BMR calories and displays values on the XXL display. The display unit is completely wireless so it can detached easily. Alternatively it can be wall-mounted using the kit included.

Other features include modern tap-on and auto shut-off as standard, as well as a 10 user memory and target weight settings which enable each user to monitor their own progress to ensure they are on track to achieving their individual goals. This information can be easily transferred via USB to a PC or laptop where you can evaluate, save and monitor your health trends online. For the most accurate reading, the BF100 scales have 5 activity settings to suit fitness levels from low through to high. An invaluable tool for sports enthusiasts, athletes and those serious about monitoring their weight/health!

Beurer Diagnostic Scales measure these important values:

BMR + AMR – Basal metabolic rate and active metabolic rate in kcal. Daily calorie consumption varies according to your age, sex, height and weight. Your AMR is your BMR plus the input of your activity level.

BF – Body fat

Muscle mass – muscle tissue is heavier than fatty tissue. If you exercise as well as dieting, you may find that you gain weight despite eating less. This is because although you are burning fat you are also building muscle mass. Your Beurer diagnostic scale will show that you are on the right path.

Water – Essential for the human body to function properly.

Bone Mass – Bones are subject to natural growth, shrinking and ageing processes. Bone mass reaches its peak at the age of 30-40 in both men and women. As we age our bone mass then begins to reduce. Healthy eating (e.g. calcium) and physical exercise can combat the shrinkage.

I bought these scales because I wanted to transfer diagnostic data automatically to my PC. I also wanted to see the results without having to bend down trying to see figures.
These German made, Baurer BF100 body scales have exceeded my expectations.

To start with, they look smart and are surprisingly light when the small unit is taken off the magnetised tray. The tray can be pushed back in and not used if you so choose but more on that later in this epic. You put 3 of the batteries in the scale and 3 into the small unit.

You transfer the software from the supplied CD onto your PC. You do need to have Microsoft excel 2003 or 2007. The software is compatible with windows XP and Vista. I had no difficulty with my Vista. You enter all your details onto the small unit. Firstly set time then your language (There are 5 languages to choose from) then your choice of weight values from kg, lbs and stones. You enter your personal data from the questions and choices that the unit offers you.
It has space for 10 peoples use and each person can save up to 30 readings per user. There is also a guest mode for the occasional interested visitor. A guest must enter their user data before each measurement and these are not saved in the unit. If you weigh yourself twice on the same date then the last reading is saved.

To obtain a reading you show your user number and then with your thumbs on the front electrodes and your fingers on the back electrodes you stand on the scales. The scales automatically detect you and the unit and switch on. Just in case you are wondering, the unit weighs 300 gm and this is automatically deleted from the result. The scales take readings for the upper body and lower body separately.

Loved these scales at first however they started weighing incorrectly within the guarantee period, get on one minute and the weight for instance 150lb get on again within minutes and they weight 154.8 lb not a small fluctuation which you can expect from most scales. Amazon replaced no problem, the second set are now doing exactly the same. Amazon are now going to replace again.
The scales are brilliant if they work correctly however these are expensive and not doing the job I bought them for.
Hopefully between amazon and beuerer we get a satisfactory result this time.
PS I never write reviews but these are so expensive I felt the need

I am surprised when researching the various scales that most of the comments refer to the scales accuracy, some times without even giving details of what it is being compared with.

I have found however that this scale gives a CONSISTENT reading within the described accuracy of +/- 0.01 Kgs; which I think is all that can be asked for; ie when getting on and off in succession the same reading is obtained each time.

It arrived on time and was well packed. I did find initially that the interface was not very intuitive to use but after a couple of days there was no problem. The software which is supplied is rather poor and this includes the `updated' down loadable version as well. I do however continue use a graph and spreadsheet which I have used for at least the last 10 years with my former (Paula Radcliff) electronic scales on which I keep a weekly record and graphs of the results.

I can recommend this scale to anybody who wants a consistent readout without fear of a small learning curve to master its use.

This weight is the worst and at the same time the most expensive as I had. How is it possible that when weighing up 3 times in a row, shows different results even with a 2 kg difference? display was without foil and looks like it was used. I was very disappointed. . I did not expect for the price weight that weighs incorrectly. Even the percentage of muscle, bones, fat every time shows differnet when I weight a few times in a row. Do not buy If you want a good scale. It doesn't deserve for that price.

I've returned these scales for a number of reasons;
1) instructions for setting up, using and synching with PC useless and had to resort to going on Beurer website to download full manual. Tried Beurer customer services and they never responded!
2) they weigh inconsistently. If you do a full body analysis you will weigh anything up to 1-2lb differently to if you just step on them for a basic weight measurement. Also, if you step on and off the scales more than once, it will NEVER weigh you the same twice in a row. The discrepancy can be as much as 2lbs. While that may not be much, you buy scales for a reason so, for me, I want to know if I'm 2lb heavier or if it's just a dodgy set of scales!!
For £90 I expected a lot more. I've gone back to my old £30 set from Argos for now which weight consistently every time

I've had these scales for almost two years. Uploading data to PC works OK (can be a little glitchy) and the newer version of the app that you can download from the Beurer site is much better. As scales alone they work very well, although it helps if you dampen your feet (just wipe a damp cloth over them) before you do the full analysis. The remote display is a triumph, really clear and immediate.
I have the Beurer blood pressure measuring device and the outputs for both combine well in the aforementioned app. You can also export the data to csv for use in other apps.
In all, an expensive but very effective digital scale and useful ally in these days of overeating and digital introspection.
