About the Author

Jaime Reese is the alter ego of an artist who loves the creative process of writing, just not about herself. Fiction is far more interesting. She has a weakness for broken, misunderstood heroes and feels everyone deserves a chance at love and life. An avid fan of a happy ending, she believes those endings acquired with a little difficulty are more cherished.

Oh my....Jaime is a new author for me.....a few people were saying how good this series was so i started this and finished it in one day...I couldn't put it down not even for work...OMG....I loved Julian and Matt together but I think Julian was my fav...There was one part that broke my heart and I just wanted to hug him so tight........This is an amazing read and the writing is just perfect......The secondary characters were very lovable...Sam i think is going to be great through the series.....I hated Matts mum....I have never known a parent to be so evil with her sons.....Matt's father though....he may have sat in the background through Matts growing up but god he came through when Matt needed him....That was a nice surprise.....I'm gonna look forward to book 2 and Cameron.....Think that ones going to be a tear jerker of a read....but bring it on....a thoroughly wonderful book x

Having read the second in the series first I am kind of glad I did - enjoying each story separately for their undoubted merits - but also it was good to read of the success of Halfway House's first guest and then find out how it all started. Again I found myself with tears and laughter in equal measure during the ups and downs of Matt and J' s blossoming relationship and I totally loved the ending
I hope Jaime Reese won't mind the comparison but "The Men of Halfway House" has drawn me into their world the way I relished be consumed by Armistead Maupin's "Tales of the City"
I can't wait to read book three!!!

The nicest thing about this story was the love between the two main guys, it grew between them gently and tenderly and by doing so forged a true connection that weathered every obstacle thrown at them including both their past histories and Matts obnoxious mother. In most stories these would normally cause the requisite ' separation ' that generally is the fallout in a lot of m/m novels when the you know what hits the fan to fill out the angst quota, but in this case it actually brings them closer together, there are moments of conflict but Julian never reacts how Matt expects, his support is unwavering and I never once doubted them not making their love and Matt's dreams for his halfway house work. Its seeing how it all comes together that makes the story and these two lovely men burrow their way into your heart. A lovely story that may not have the excitement factor but will leave you feeling that true love does exist and will warm a lot of hearts. A small cast of characters who make up a big hearted book. Lovely.

A sweet romance about new starts and healing.
I really enjoyed Matt and Julian and felt invested in their story.
Unfortunately a couple of things stopped this being a five star read for me.
The way things resolved with Matt's dad was just too neat and tidy. It just wasn't believable.

Liam. I wanted to know more about him and his story with Matt.
Sam, again I wanted to know about him and his relationship with Matt.
Julian. There is so much more to this man that we just didn't get to see.

Despite these issues I really enjoyed both the story and the writing.

Story of love and dedication to family & friends
The author has created characters who are truly unique in their needs and desires, they don't know how powerful their relationship can be as they don't trust themselves or others...Jamie captures this pain and desire from the outset and takes the reader on a journey with them.
I'm glad that I downloaded samples of all the books in the series...can't wait to read the next one!

I live for a good love story, a proper m/m romance. The attraction between these two guys, Matt and Julian is intense and so restrained initially. Plus it's a DIY make-over which hits my buttons.
Ms Reese writes about the intensity of Love and accomplishes this amazing well.
The mother character I just could not understand. How such a terrible woman could produce such well balanced children was beyond me and the fact her husband stuck with such a bitchy mess for so many years??? Naw! Could not relate, and hence the four stars instead of five.
A really great love story, where the sex does not detract.

This book has a good solid storyline which makes it a great read. Being a big softie at heart (don't tell anyone!) I admit shedding a few tears at some of the sentiments. Characters are believable and not just sexual frenzy which happens too easily in MM books and isn't what I look for in a good read these days.

Before I finished book 1 I had bought book 2 so I could go straight on (I have a habit of reading in the middle of the night). This was a good move as I finished Book 1 at 1.30am. I got straight into the second story and as others have said, they can be read alone but are much better in sequence as the characters continue to develop.

Highly recommended - I will be diving into Book 3 and can't wait for more from this author.

I bought this basically because of the hot guy cover. I enjoyed the book as much as looking at hot guy LOL It was a good read, the stereotypical bitch mother was worthy of Dallas! Matt and Justin were a pair and a half, both with issues, Matt's brother had no backbone and I was surprised by the turn in his father. Families are complicated animals and this was the worst dysfunctional family since Bobby and JR and in the same vein. It is a good story, how they kept their hands of each other for months with all that tension in the house tho..... I have the second book in the series, hopefully it will be just as enjoyable.
