This is the second book in the series and I didn't hesitate downloading it ! The story is great and the book is easy to read, you won't be able to put it down. I am now working my way through number 3. It is a bit pricey but worth it.

I really enjoyed the first book and I really enjoyed this one, but I've only given it 4 stars as I feel the author lost his way a bit when it came to Charis, I won't give too much away, but I think that that part of the story needed a lot more explaining.

Angels, Demons, Vampires, Weres - they all come together in this, the second book in The Divine Series.

I love the different take on the well covered fantasy favourites, spiced up with a pinch of Dante and what more could you ask for

Betrayal (The Divine, Book Two)

I really enjoyed Balance, the first book in this series and couldn't wait to start this one. While I was a bit confused at how the book kicked off, being 5 years later, it didn't take long to pick up the missing pieces as Mr Forbes leaves snippets of information which reveal how the protagonist has developed/survived to date. As for the reasoning behind the 5 year gap - perhaps with Landon having so much to learn about his abilities, Mr Forbes needed the additional time to create a more realistic Landon being more comfortable with his advanced diuscrucis powers?

However, Landon is now emotionally just a shell of his former self - the challenge of maintaining the balance between good and evil, on top of being betrayed by those he loved, has stripped him of most of his humanity. If it wasn't for Sarah, the girl he's sworn to protect, and the puzzle of a single rune found on all Divine objects, one wonders whether he would have given it all up for a little oblivion. Well, if he wasn't immortal...

Landon's internal residents epitomise the role he represents - an internal balance with an angel on one shoulder and a demon on the other. I thoroughly enjoyed the independent relationship between these two entities, as well as them being there to bring a little light, companionship and depth to Landon's otherwise somewhat flat existence.

There is a tonne of kick-ass action throughout the storyline, fights that sometimes appear fantastical and surreal as Landon continues the battle to prevent the destruction all of mankind - and while doing so, suffers the ultimate betrayal - that of his very reason for being!

I really enjoyed the first in this series, Balance, which was an interesting an novel premise which has been executed well. I started the sequel with some doubts as it is not uncommon to be disappointed when a good first start isn't matched by its successors. Definitely not the case here! Exciting and fast paced, the story rockets along and is satisfyingly complex. Thoroughly recommended.

Omg! what a excellent follow up to the first book betrayal. Landon has changed so much that it broke my heart to see him so disconnected and alone. needless to say he gets his mojo back! well done for another gripping story. im going to download the third book now.

A surprising book, it turns conceptions of good and evil on their moralistic heads. A good central character and a myriad of interesting characters sprinkled liberally around him
