Product description

From the Author

Bestiary: Mythological beasts of the Middle Ages
Like my first picturebook Illuminations, Bestiary is a homage to the History and Mythology of the Middle Ages. This new work is also an ABC book and was intended to be somewhat of a sequel. Bestiary was conceived as a modern-day version of the medieval European bestiaries. A translation from the Latin by T.H. White of a 12th century bestiary is one of the more famous ones that is still available in print. My research for the text and illustrations included Classical Greek, Roman, Middle Eastern, Oriental, and European sources.Far from being a complete catalog of all the beasts that were at one time thought to exist, Bestiary scratches the surface of a rich tradition of animal lore that has been passed down to us over the centuries.Have fun (and watch out for basilisks)!
