A great little book that is bound to start a debate or two on those included in this list. It's always difficult to give an opinion on previous great players you haven't seen play, so the profiles of the earlier players help to do them justice. My favourite Arsenal player just has to be Liam 'Chippy' Brady, so who is yours? Read the book and see.

I've just finished this book and thoroughly enjoyed reading it. My choice of the Arsenal Best XI would be slightly different, but the detail and insight into every player in their eleven was capitivating. I especially liked the chapters on players from years gone by, whom I knew less about, such as George Male and Alex James. I also like the way that the different chapters have different authors, with guest appearances from the Arseblogger and Kevin Whitcher.

The book has been reviewed on numerous Arsenal websites (including Goonerholic - [...]), and copied below is the review from the leading Arsenal fanzine - The Gooner.

BEST XI ARSENAL

By Brian Dawes (the review that is!)

Review of the e-book by Damian Hall, Luke Nicoli, Andrew Mangan and Kevin Whitcher

Right then: so like me you got a Kindle for Christmas and now you're looking for books to download. Well one particular recommendation I can make is the 'Best XI Arsenal' now available from Kindle at a mere £3.04.

The essence as you might suspect is in the title and it's a game we've all played in pubs or on long away trips. Four fans arguing about their favourite players in each position, discussing the formation to be played and debating as to whether you can you pick players who played before your time. The difference between the pub/car journey game you've played and this volume is that each of the eleven players chosen here is honoured with their own chapter and each is written by one of four fine authors. Namely: Luke Nicoli and Damian Hall (both Arsenal supporting journalists), Kevin Whitcher (editor of The Gooner) and Andrew Mangan (known universally as Arseblogger).

...Gooners will love the shared history, the well-supported opinions, and the memories of all of the great periods of Arsenal's past. But all football fans with an appreciation of the characters and culture of the sport will love it too. More Best XIs on the way? I hope so!

4.0 out of 5 stars Great for Arsenal Tragics! 15 Aug. 2013

I am a self confessed Arsenal tragic(since 1971).They are a once great team with many great players who have graced their pitches. This well written and researched book will satisfy the most fervent Gunner fans. But truly only for the obsessed fans with little else to do with their Kindle time!
