when I was first presented this, I didn't think much of it, being more interested in strategy or 'Tycoon' games. However, The Simpsons Hit and Run turned out to be a great gaming experience. I won't spoil it for you, but I'll tell you about what made this game so great:

Graphics - quite good. This game doesn't rely on special effects alone to impress you. I've seen games (and films) which are all graphics and no real plot or storyline.

Storyline - Funny with an ironic twist.

Vehicles - Plenty to choose from, from the family sedan to the Mr Plow truck. Or you could just stop a car from the road, hop in and go for a ride!

Missions - Fun with all the adrenaline flowing. For once, the missions are actually challenging and not ridiculously easy.

Humour - lots of it, making the game light-hearted and enjoyable.

I could go on forever, but there isn't enough space. What I'm saying is that The Simpsons Hit and Run is a great game that I am proud to have played. Ignore the other bad reviews; they don't know a good game when they see one.

Great product, my 8 year old bought it back in June and plays for 30 mins a day every day (and would play more if we let him), now almost finished for the second time and still enjoying it. I printed off the instructions, but he's done most of it intuitively anyway. Lots of driving about crashing into things, with missions to complete, coins to collect and different cars to purchase.
Be warned tho', running it under Windows ME, I had to upgrade from Direct x 6.0 to the latest download available (v9) to get it to work and this stopped my younger son's games working (like Thomas the Tank Engine). Apart from that, good value for money.

I think this game is the best for adults and children all around. It is REALLY gripping and the story board is not at al, dodgy. It is also really funny!

Absolutely amazing game, one of the first open world games I played as a child so I was very nostalgic.
Very fun levels, which get more challenging as you progress, but could be played by a 7 year old or a 70 year old, alike.

The product came with 3 CD ROMs so you have to download them chronologically, and then put the first CD back in (they're numbered).
Definitely read the manual, in case you get stuck.
The only problem that I had, is that there wasn't a manual which said what controllers were which, but that can be easily googled.
Personally, I use a wired Xbox controller, but if you do this you have to set the controls for it manually, since it's an old game, it won't set it automatically.

This is a great budget game which never fails to amuse even the most serious of people. The graphics are good and there are handy short-cuts and different racing helpers to help you pass tasks. If you really can't pass a task after several tries you can skip it. Excellent game the only down-side is a long installation time and you have to be there all the time swopping the disks. Well worth the money.

Used to have this for the playstation 2 and thought I would give it another go on the PC as I thought it was good homage to the GTA games (a bit more family-friendly though). Still holds up well today and I prefer it to the more recent Simpsons games.

This game is amazingly funny and very long to fully complete so very much worth the money. The Simpsons hit and run comes on 3 pc CD-rom discs so takes a bit of time to install. I also found that on Vista it didn't want to start until I ran the game as an administrator and set up the compatibility to windows 98. But after that the game works absolutely fine, no need for any installation codes or online activation either.

The game itself plays out a bit like a Simpsons episode. All of the favourite cast of characters is there in full 3D which for some people may look strange, but I really enjoyed the new look. All the familiar voices are there too. I won't go into the story line itself but I'll tell you that the game relies heavily on you driving your character to different locations around springfield. There are times when your character must leave his or her vehicle and explore an area or walk into a building, or talk to someone to get a mission, but a lot of the area is easier and faster to explore in your car.

The whole point of the hit and run is that every time, while driving, you hit a person (in true Simpsons comedy fashion) or destroy something such as a lamp post or tree you build up the 'hit &run' meter. This meter fills up pretty quick if you keep hitting things and once you go over a critical level you are charged with hit and run and have to escape Chief Wigam's car before he catches and fines you. The whole point is to try and avoid building up the hit and run meter while also racing around as fast as you can.

The game is simply hilarious due to the fact that every time a character gets in or out of their car, hits a person, hits something, crashes the car, etc you get a very funny comment such as Homer's 'Ow, my ass!
