Product Description

Never Mind the Buzzcocks host Simon Amstell and team captain Phill Jupitus have a rare out of hours get together to look back at some exclusive, never-before-aired, deleted material from the last 3 series. This Exclusive DVD Featurette includes clips ranging from the too rude, too drunk, too nasty, too sweary, too awkward and in absolutely no instances too funny for TV.

Also featured on this ‘Best of’ DVD are compilation special episodes from the last three series presented by Simon Amstell (2007-2009):

Never Mind the Buzzcocks - Technically, the Best Series Ever. A thrilling look back at what were technically some excellent moments from the last series. Featuring a galaxy of technically good celebrity bookings and many, many technically funny sentences. Yes!

Never Mind The Buzzcocks – A Moving Tribute. A touching retrospective on Never Mind the Buzzcocks.

Never Mind The Buzzcocks… Imagine a mildly amusing panel show. Alan Yentob takes a look back at the most talked about moments from the series, including Amy Winehouse spitting, Preston walking and Lilly Allen controversially wearing funny glasses.

At first, I was delighted to see that, at long last, a DVD of Never Mind The Buzzcocks was going to come out. But I must say that the actual product don't quite match my (admittedly high) expectations. No efforts in compiling the best bits of the three Simon Amstell-led series have been made for this DVD, and we only get the three compilation shows the BBC aired at the end of each season.

As for unseen footage, there is roughly 45 minutes of it. Some of it makes for pleasant viewing - mostly thanks to the (compulsory) commentary from Amstell and Phil Jupitus - but Buzzcocks have always been a show that works best when viewed in full so I think it'd have worked better if some complete shows had been included (the ones with Anthony Costa, Lee Ryan or Midge Ure for instance). I was also hoping that the never-aired Russell Brand episode would be included here. It is not.

These days, you don't want to buy a fully priced DVD and only get 45 minutes of new material for your hard-earned money. It's especially disappointing since there was obviouly plenty of material to choose from.

I know a lot of people are disappointed this isn't a dvd featuring an entire series of the music quiz, but to be honest the BBC are pumping out series after series of this so often that it would have taken an awful lot of dvd's to cover all the best bits of the show. Three half hour end of series episodes covering the best bits of the series might not sound like much, but they are still very funny and you'll probably watch them a couple of times each. I believe that if you understand what your getting on this dvd, you will not be disappointed. The dvd also contains commentary by Simon Amstell and Phil Jupitus, but to be honest I didn't really enjoy that part of the dvd. All in all, worth picking up if your a buzzcocks fan and you can get it cheap.

The DVD has some bits and pieces from the first few series of the show sewn together. There aren't any real long continuous stretches. Or even hardly any semi-long ones, either.

You can tell that the show is very funny (I've never seen a complete episode). But the DVD seems to hide this well. Although the DVD whets your appetite to see a complete show it doesn't contain any complete shows, and is otherwise of very little value except perhaps to those who already have seen a lot of shows and want a quickie trip through memory lane or to see some deleted bits and bleeps they didn't see on broadcast. As a fan myself of other similar shows, I can tell right away that this show is a lot funnier if seen as a complete whole (e.g. whole episodes). It is also a disservice to the guests depicted in the DVD tracks that they aren't necessarily individually identified (for those who do not know who they are just by recognizing them). At the end of each compilation clip is a list of guest names, at least, although I noticed that even this isn't necessarily comprehensive. But if you are trying to identify a guest, try looking at the credits from other DVD tracks they might have appeared on as well.

I guess that for the purpose of my determining if I like this show or not and would want to see more, this DVD satisfied my curiosity, but boy this particular DVD is mostly empty calories. I hope that many more DVDs will come out in the future, and in a comprehensive fashion, for this show and others like it such as Mock the Week, Eight and a Half Cats, and QI.

Big fan of the Buzzcocks, always loved the show, had to have the DVD. It contains clips from the 3 Simon Amstell series' as well as bloopers and a few other bits and bobs. Should have put a few full episodes on it like Mock the Week too hot for T.V did, maybe the Russel Brand episode that never aired. Despite a few short comings it will definitely have you laughing throughout. All in all 4/5.

I LOVE this show. I bought the DVD in the hope that I'd be able to, you know, watch some of it. Unfortunately the editing of this monstrocity is so painfully invasive that my enjoyment of the show was completely ruined. With unnecessarily truncated clips, entirely pointless fillers, and a grating commentary, the whole thing is so badly put together it's almost unwatchable.

Never mind the buzzcocks was never the same after the departure of Simon Amstell. Don't get me wrong I liked it when Mark Lamar hosted it, but Amstell took the show to new heights. It's a shame he didn't stay for a few more series

why did they not just copy the full series to the DVD instead of adding narration and introductions which are poor at best? The episodes are what we want to see so just let us see them instead of clips.

I would have been happy to see a compilation of the best clips of this show. Instead of this, we have to listen to a lot of unnecessary commentary by Simon Amstell and Phill Jupitus. There are some good clips of the show, including Preston walking off and Amy Winehouse slightly intoxicated but in general it's a disappointment. Also far too much of Simon Amstell, I would have liked to see more of Bill Bailey and other guests.
