An essential introduction to the solo works of Natacha Atlas. Compiled by Ms. Atlas herself, the album is sequenced around three very different versions of 'Leysh NatArak'. A broad variety of musical styles are presented, with rare cuts, tracks that have new vocal recordings and some new edits to maintain the flow and pace, so that the compilation works as a cohesive album and not just a collection of songs. A companion DVD is also available which features all the Natacha Atlas solo videos (including two with alternate French soundtracks) and earlier Transglobal Underground videos. Additionally there is one hour of highlights from her concert at Union Chapel in 2003.

Though deeply rooted in Arabic culture, Natacha's music is by no means confined to this genre, and as a result she is a very accessible artist. This greatest hits album is a wonderful collection of songs that truly reflects the creativity of the artist.
When this Best Of album came out I knew I would buy it even if I probably already had all the songs on other albums I have of hers. I was pleasantly suprised that there were a few tracks (ok, some of them were just remixes) that I did not have on other albums. Her version of "You Only Live Twice" I believe gives the original a good run for its money.
Can't really explain it in too many words but Natacha Atlas is just bloody great and this gave me a good while of pleasurable listening until her next album came out.
The new edits and remixes are fantastic, and it's a great album for any fan, or if you are new to her music.
Overall, a nice balance of songs from her solo albums of the past 10 years. And long may it continue!
