There is a more up to date collection which is a double cd and the sound is better. But this collection has all the tracks you need and not a duff one among them. The album creates a mood which it sustains to the end. You'll never regret buying this one.

Julie London has really been overlooked as a great jazz singer. It's probably because of all the "pop" stuff that she recorded. This is a great collection of the best of her jazz recordings. If you like great songs really well sung this is for you...Buy it you won't be disappointed....try it.

A terrific collection for very modest cost. For anyone new to Julie London this would be a great starting point. The production and recording quality is fine and mostly done before vinyl recording got sloppy. The only let down is that some of her "best" is missing and purchase of "Standards" was required to fill in the gaps.

By Eugene Onegin TOP 1000 REVIEWERVINE VOICE on 25 Dec. 2014
Format: Audio CD Verified Purchase
These days I find TV ads less interesting for the products they intend to promote than for the often ear-catching music they use as a backing track. Never was this better illustrated than in the Christmas 2014 M and S campaign which in the first five seconds introduced me to a voice I knew I wanted to hear more of. That song was Fly me to the Moon which combines a glorious performance with elegantly impressive orchestration. This is reflected on the other 17 tracks on this splendid collection which showcases Julie London's smoky rich voice to wonderful effect and demonstrate that this woman was no one hit wonder. The tempi are largely slow, the style a mellow jazz which makes for superb late night listening. The central glory though is the voice itself which never sounds under pressure and blends smoothness with effortless phrasing. For those of you who have picked up on Madeline Peyroux's music in recent years this will be very appealing. However, at this price this is an incredible bargain for any music lover not least because the sound has been re-mastered so atmospherically. Recommended with all possible enthusiasm.

Brilliant and now M&S have got hold of the track 'Fly me to the Moon' for their Christmas ad campaign.

I fell in love with the voice long before I ever saw her picture. Music to dream by.
