BERNARDINE KENNEDY is the author of ten novels, three of which are published under the pen-name MARIE MAXWELL. All her novels are based around families and their relationship issues especially dysfunctional families who struggle to cope.
Books number eleven and twelve, a BK and an MM. are under construction.
The BERNARDINE KENNEDY books are modern, gritty and occasionally violent with no punches pulled, however there is often a lighthearted element, a touch of glitz and a satisfactory ending. Each novel is different.
The MARIE MAXWELL series are historical sagas set during and after WW2. These books are linked by the characters but can also be read as stand-alones.
Bernardine was born in London but spent most of her childhood with her travelling ex-pat parents in Singapore and Nigeria before settling in Essex, where she still lives with her husband and cat. She has a son, daughter, two step-daughters and a grandson.
Her diverse and varied working life, which has given her such an insight into the situations of her characters, has included careers as an Air Hostess, a Swimming Instructor and a Social Worker as well a Teacher of English in a women's prison.
She has been a freelance writer for many years initially writing whatever was wanted by whoever before eventually specialising in travel features for popular magazines and newspapers. This gave her the opportunity to combine her two favourite activities; writing and travelling.
