I make it a rule if I have not travelled somewhere before, to take a guide. Not all guides are equal. This is a good one. It slips into your pocket or handbag, has overview and street maps, it gives top 10 attractions and a suggestion for a perfect day. This small guide is a bonus. The author has gone the extra mile - the brief history is interesting but the inclusion of historical landmarks makes it special. It also gives brief information on other cities of interest such as Leiden (I find this a much nicer place to stay than Amsterdam) and Haarlem. Useful information is given at the back. Brilliant book, we spent 4 days in Amsterdam and will be going back due to 2 galleries being refurbished in 2012. The book was excellent and gave us a brilliant insight into this wonderful city, plus it really does fit in my pocket so it's there when needed.

This was a brilliant companion on a recent trip to Amsterdam. Small so it didn't add too much to the baggage allowance and also fits nicely in my handbag - but very informative with helpful maps to guide you around the centre of Amsterdam. Definitely recommend if you are taking a trip to Amsterdam!

This book was very handy in Amsterdam it definitely helped us on a number of occasions.Trying to find our way around and deciding what is best thing to do whilst out there. The downside was it was a bit expensive for what it was. However all in all a good buy.

This book contained all the relevant information for my recent trip to Amsterdam.

It helped me to decide what to do and where to go.

Don't leave home without it!

Really basic little book. The city maps are quite poor, I'd guess because there is little space in this little book! As someone who's been to Amsterdam before, it told me precisely nothing new. Gay readers might object to almost no mention of anything of interest (despite the huge 'scene' Amsterdam has to offer), as well as being referred to as "them". I should have opted for Lonely Planet, they never let you down!

This is a good book to take on your trip to Amsterdam, with up-to-date information and maps. Easy to follow, and small enough to put in your pocket. Would recommend.
