Colour Name: Black / BlackSize: X-Large Vine Customer Review of Free Product ( What's this? )
.....December 23rd 2013 and my trousers arrived, just in time for one of the worst storms to lash the south coast of England for the last 20 years. Torrential rain, winds in excess of 70 mph and flooding. Thankfully I didn't have to stay out in the weather for too long, but I did have to go out as much of our garden furniture had blown across the garden and also our bin store was in the middle of our lawn and perilously close to our cars.

I stayed outside for 40 minutes in absolutely torrential rain, with neither my Rohan jacket or these escellent over trousers letting in rain. I am quite a large man and so I chose the XL size, which fitted over my trousers with ease and allowed ample, but no excessive, room inside. I particularly liked the "snug" fit to the waist, which I am confident will prevent these trousers slipping down like my previous pair did.

I intend to mainly use this item when walking our border collie dog and anyone who has any experience of these dogs will know that weather is never a problem for them and even sooaking wet they are always keen to continue the walk. So most days, irrespective of weather we have at least one, but more ofter two walks lasting an hour or more, regardless of the type of weather.

How long will they last? Well on that issue I am not sure. They seem robust enough and certainly allowed air to circulate last night with their breathable fabric; there appeared to be no significant moisture inside or on my jeans, although as you might expect, my legs felt a little warm after the exertion. It will be interesting to see how well they perform after a few washes, but after putting through a very comprehensive test last evening, I anticipate that they will suit my purpose very well for quite a while.

I purchased these for some outdoor pursuits and used the Berghaus size guide (https://www.berghaus.com/sizeguide-all.html#mens) to find my size (usually a 44" in jeans) The size guide said I should order XXXL and they fit pretty good if a little on the large side. They're very well made and have a popper on the bottom of each leg with a zip that goes up to just under the knee so you don't have to mess around taking off your shoes before putting them on.

Overall I'm very impressed

These were unbeleievably cheap when I bought them to replace my existing Deluge trousers. A fraction of the normal cost they are every bit as good as the Deluge overtrousers which have served me well for s good number of years. Thank you Amazon for this bargain.

Colour Name: Black / BlackSize: Large Vine Customer Review of Free Product ( What's this? )
I was marshalling for two days next to the Mersey for the Liverbird Marathons 2013/14 The forecast was for bad storms and high winds so I was delighted to be able to try these out and see whether they would live up to expectations. Berghaus have a good reputation for technical clothing. As someone once said to me "there's no such thing as bad weather - just bad clothing". Well, my expectations were met.

These overtrousers fitted well, allowing me to wear a pair of trousers underneath, and I didn't feel restricted, hot, or squashed. I am a 38/33 in trousers and the large size was ideal. Waist comfortable, but maybe an inch short. However, wearing a solid pair of winter walking boots (breathable/waterproof) the shortness was ideal.

These seem well constructed. Water simply rolls off them. Waves would splash over the promenade but my legs remained dry. They are light to wear and the breathable fabric does not lead to overheating.

12 hours of marshalling in some pretty extreme weather and these trousers did not let me down.

Highly recommended.

Great trousers... Except no slits to access your pockets. Surely this is essential? They are over trousers and in order to get money or phone etc you have to pull the trousers down ... Would have been simple to have made them with this and most over trousers would have this. A tad disappointed.

Purchased these for dog walking in the horrendous weather, and initially was impressed......after just over a month the seams are open and there is excessive wear (like acid holes) over the fabric.

Considering the brand, would have expected more.

In the last couple of weeks, the UK has experienced heavy rain & severe flooding. During this period I spent a few days working outdoors in muddy conditions & persistent heavy (but not torrential) rain. These trousers kept my legs warm & bone dry throughout. There wasn't any leaking at all. When using cheaper 'waterproof' trousers (including some army surplus ones) I've normally ended up with a couple of isolated damp patches on whatever I've worn underneath but these left me completely dry.

They really are breathable & lightweight too. They kept me warm but not overheated. I quickly forgot that I had them on.

They are very roomy & didn't restrict movement at all. I have a 37-inch waist & the Large size fit comfortably over my jeans with plenty of room to spare. I didn't even need to use the leg zips to take them on & off.

All in all, working outside would have been a pretty miserable experience without them but instead, I enjoyed being out & didn't even mind the rain because it didn't penetrate my clothes, so I felt warm & dry. There may be cheaper over-trousers out there but I haven't yet come across any which perform as well as these.
