It's not a heavyweight book - the author is not a GREAT writer or an intellectual, but it is enjoyable enough. It's a shame there are not more quotes from Bercow himself - I would have loved to have heard some of the speeches he made when he was in the Monday Club. Some photos of the man himself might have been an idea too!
He has researched John Bercow's story in great detail and through dozens of interviews he has been able to trace his life from being a schoolboy to becoming Speaker. It is a riveting read and gives us a great understanding of where John Bercow came from and what makes Mr Speaker tick.A trained BBC journalist Bobby Friedman has got great skills as a story teller and hopefully this will not be his last book.
