The product has a nice heft to it, and comes well packaged to prevent damage during transit. The build quality of the tree itself far exceeded my expectations for a product of this price, though the base itself is rather flimsy and tacky in comparison.
When switched on, the lights are very bright, fully illuminating the whole tree. The colour changes are gradual and coordinated. I didn't really notice the pool motor moving the water or glitter about as much though, but will test it again tonight.
The product is stable when placed on a flat surface, and the on/off switch is on the side of the base rather than the bottom, which I find more convenient.
Regardless, the product is great value for money, and I would definitely purchase this again in hindsight.
I have to agree that the tree does go through batteries alarmingly quickly, but given the brightness of the lights, this is no real surprise. Definitely not something you want to leave switched on all day/night however unless you have spare batteries to hand.
If there was one issue I had with the product, it would be the fact that it looks like there's a power input port on the side, but no wall charger / power lead was supplied - perhaps just an oversight as this wasn't mentioned in the product description though.
I am still very happy with this - BUT - I saw an similar one advertised in a local catalogue, and on checking sizes I noticed that this Benross one is NOT the size stated in the product details. It is 27cm high and 9.5cm diameter at the base, whereas the dimensions given are (very specifically!) 30.2cm high and 13.2cm diameter. Admittedly I did not buy it for the size, but wonder if there is a bigger one and we are being sold the smaller one at the dearer price!
My only quibble so far is that the red LED on mine seems to be on for a very short time compared to the green and blue. Not sure if this is normal or just a particular peculiarity with the one I was sent. They all fade on/off quite quickly anyway but the red is by far the quickest so the red effect on the glitter is minimal. However the overall effect is still very nice and it is quite mesmerizing to watch as the 3 colours reflect off the spinning glitter. Hopefully this will become part of our Christmas decorations for many years to come.
