Product description

From the Author

a point of view abouit why I wrote the book as I did
Based on a true story, Ben Hogan's Secret was read to Mr. Hogan two weeks before he died. The author heard from Ben Crenshaw who loved the book's scenes betweeen Ben and Bobby Jones. Wally Uehlein, CEO of Titleist called the book, the best golf book in twenty-five years. The author used fact and deduction to be able to get to the real story behind Mr.Hogan... After the book was read to Mr Hogan, the author got invited to tea with both Mr and Mrs Hogan.

While I was familiar with the life and achievements of Ben Hogan, the way the author has written this book, gives a different perspective of what type of man Ben Hogan was.
Very enjoyable.

A book based on a lot of guesswork with only fleeting touches of reality. Whereas the reader hopes that a technical analysis of Ben Hogan's swing might be in there somewhere and that the author may have known something that made Hogan different from the rest, all we are served up are whimsical 'possible' conversations with his loyal wife Valerie and his mentor Bobby Jones. At the end of the day the author can only confirm that Hogan was an extremely determined character who liked to practice hard with no-one around. Hogan had no secret as such but the aura of his solitude gave sports writers something to label him with. The fact that Hogan capitalised on his 'secret' and even tried to sell 'it' again in his old age confirmed that his ultimate driving force was the dollar.

When you start the book it gives you the impression that it will lead to something, but the story drags on and leaves you feeling like its unfinished

Excellent book for any golf enthusiast. It explains the hardships that the earlier golfers had to face and how the golf professionals were frowned on in by gone days.

I enjoyed the story as it was plausible and could well be truth at least in part. Not much more to say really...
