4.0 out of 5 stars The courage of the young 30 Dec. 2000
By Luan Gaines - Published on
Format: Hardcover Verified Purchase
This book was purchased for my 3 yr old granddaughter for Christmas, as she had already fallen in love with Madeline, and especially Miss Clavell. Each page not only pops up, but also has pull tabs to allow the figures movement. A favorite part is when Madeline goes to the hospital to have her appendix removed, murmuring, "I can do anything. I can do anything..." What better praise that when my graddaughter had to go to the hospital over Christmas, and, afraid, she closed her eyes and said, "I can do anything. I can do anything..." Happily back home, she asks me to read this favorite book to her every day, a little girl who found courage from another little girl, Madeline.

5.0 out of 5 stars My 18 month old loves it, can I ask for more? 12 Jan. 2007
By C. Boaz - Published on
Format: Hardcover
This is a great book. My 18 month old loves all the pop ups and interactive pull tabs. Of course I have to do it for him but he loves seeing it. He also loves the rhyming of the story. I have not read the original but I have heard this is a shorter, condensed version which is fine with me. Most kids this age won't sit through a long drawn out story. Would highly recommend.

3.0 out of 5 stars great - but abbreviated 29 Aug. 2006
By tekc - Published on
Format: Hardcover
The pop-ups are adorable, and my 16 month old loves the book. But I did not realize that they story would be so abbreviated. It is just a few cute passages from the Madeline story, not the entire book. If you know the entire story, this pieced together snippets version will annoy you.

I bought this book for a friend who named her new baby Madeline. (: She was very happy with this book. It is sturdy and perfect for the very young child. It will definitely entice a child to explore the world of books.

The mother of the two girls I gave this book to was thrilled with the book. I also gave them Madeline dolls and there Mother said OH I LOVED MADELINE when I was a child.
