At long last the seventh book in this lovely, well crafted series has arrived and we find our two heroes back in London town. Faithful followers will know that we won't have to wait long for another amazing adventure to begin and this time we have to unravel a mystery discovered soon after they start work at The British Museum. Fiona Deal's faithful adherence to accuracy provides us with a further, albeit less well known, slice of Egyptian history, carefully and seamlessly woven into the fast-paced plot. If you've followed the story this far you won't be disappointed. If you're new to the series do start at the beginning with Carter's Conundrums and fasten your seatbelt!

The adventures of Merry Pink have taken us all on a most excellent journey through contemporary and ancient Egypt.
They have also drawn excellent parallels between the ancient upheavals and the seemingly endless troubles of Egypt today.

This leads us very nicely to book seven wherein our heroes must continue their adventures in modern London as Egypt is no longer safe. It also places the reader in my favourite place on earth, the British Museum. The writing is excellent, the description of the Museum is first rate and the plot once again takes us back to the heady days of the early Egyptologists.

The book also deals ( pun intended) very carefully with the debate over where the treasures of antiquity should be kept and displayed. The points for and against are well made and no attempt is made to convince the reader about an answer.

In short this is an excellent continuation of a well written series and opens the door to many future books. Read them all and if you possibly can visit the British Museum.

I'be just finished reading this after reading the first 6. I loved them all. I think you can actually read any of them without reading the series but after one book the characters will grow on you. You'll then bo hooked and eager to read more.

Fiona's knowledge has impressed me and I've learned a lot from reading these as well as enjoying Merry's adventures. Boy does she get herself into some scrapes!

These books are so well written and are jam-packed with history and adventure. I highly recommend this book and the whole series.

I'm feeling a little lost now I've read them all so come on Fiona get writing the next one!
