Although the third in a series, and we see many old friends, this could be read as a standalone and enjoyed.
The two lead characters are portrayed as being very different, and yet their love of MMA has brought them together. Francesca's vacillating between hot and cold is as contrary as the British weather, and has Tony having to be the calm, patient one. This is not something he can deal with well, yet he certainly does try. Their chemistry is deniable (by F) but real nonetheless. I enjoyed watching it all play out, and recommend you give it a go.
Great fun read, looking forward to the next one.

I really REALLY wanted to like this story because it was so much different than the last two... However it still left me feeling let down. The characters are so over the darn place that every time one problem was addressed, they let another one tear them apart. I understood that they were both coming from torrential pasts and extremely untrusting, but it seemed like neither was willing to really try and them BAM they were, only to not really be. It was incredibly frustrating for me.
I did love that we got to see the two sides of Frances and finally getting to learn more about Tony, but it didn't work for me.
I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads.
An early night in order to finish this. I couldn't put it down, again!
I have been a fan of Sidney's since Seeing Red and still love her work, her men and her covers. Ive seen the cover for this plenty of times and it was only 2 days ago that I noticed the sea!
In the third instalment we visited the lives of Tony and Francesca, Frankie or Frances.
Tony is the big name for WtF accademy and Francesca made that decision. Tony is busy trying to win her over and go on one date while Frances is busy keeping her walls up after a suprising gem in the book I didn't see coming.
The constant push and pull of their relationship keeps you enthralled and hooked. They both wind up being softer than their personas.
Both of them have interesting pasts. Little bits in time that make them who they are and it's refreshing to see how those pasts are melted away simply by forgiving and moving on, simple closure and acceptance.
Through the plot we see cocky Tony lose a fight, costing the accademy, and watch as he'd rather spend his time chasing after women, drinking and not really giving a crap because in his head he's still one of the top named fighters. But, at 34, age is catching up and Frances gets on his case.
The pair bicker all the time, and Tony, one interation at a time starts wearing at her no dating policy - so much so that after the 1st date, he barely leaves her house.
The book also gets me extremely excited about book 4! Cain and Violet. I cannot wait to get my hands on that one.
Without a doubt still in love with Sid, you just have to give both series a try!
The premise focuses on Tony’s upcoming fight and the building relationship between Tony and Francesca. Francesca and Slade Martin (Full Contact book 2) bought the rights to Tony’s contract, and ‘Worth the Fight’ gym/fight club is hoping to make their money back and more. What ensues is Tony’s pursuit of both the title and Francesca-a woman with a cold façade and an even colder attitude. Francesca’s history with men is limited and full of heartbreak. She is a beautiful, independent heroine with a fragile ego who hides behind a business suit that screams nothing but professional.
The storyline and the relationship are slow to build. As Francesca and Slade work to rebuild the gym, Francesca continues to push Tony away at every opportunity and she is a woman who likes to run when the going gets tough. Francesca and Tony both have a quick temper and are even quicker to jump to conclusions as it pertains to their relationship jealousy and other contenders for their heart. As Tony’s championship fight draws near their personalities, egos, wants and need begin to clash until Tony walks away giving Francesca the space she needs to deal with her past. The $ex scenes are intimate, passionate and hot.Read more ›
