By Chris Urago - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback Verified Purchase
Dorothy Bowers is hard to categorize, as she has elements of a Victorian novelist, a satirist (on the level of small villages like Christie), a penetrating view of character as related to action (as in Crofts, Farjeon, Sayers, et. al.); however, sometimes her pen becomes stilted and stalled in containing the full violence of the event. On the other hand, this restraint characterizes the Golden Age of Detectives as a whole, a more palatable (perhaps) way of looking at things, without the fury and gore that followed in the later noir writers. This is not to say that one is necessarily inferior or superior but more a matter of predilection at the present moment.

5.0 out of 5 stars If you like Dorothy Sayers 6 Jan. 2016

Dorothy Bowers only wrote 6 mysteries. If you like Dorothy Sayers, you will like Bowers' novels. All of her books are out of print and I bought all 6 on Amazon. I've read them all, and am now re-reading them.
