This story shows what it's like to grow up in mafia families. It goes from one extreme to the other. The family who cares and the one with greed for power, no matter the cost.

Bronson is the son of the mob boss. It's a very close knitted family with complete devotion for one another.

Callie is the daughter of the underboss who is governed by greed and treats his wife and daughter in the most despicable ways. Callie's escape is her best friend Bianca, Bronson's sister. They have grown up together and there has always been a strong chemistry between Bronson and Callie. Bronson is biding his time to reveal his feelings for Callie but when she overhears a conversation between her father and one of his henchmen, she is devastated and runs to Bianca for comfort. Bronson steps in and declares what he has always felt for Callie and they are both over the moon.

Callie's father is not to be thwarted and doesn't give up on his plans. Just when everything appears to be going smoothly for Callie and Bronson, tragedy strikes! This on its own puts a strain on their relationship but Callie's father doesn't stop there. He is determined to break them up and puts pressure on Callie, where she is left with very little choice. From then on, everything goes from bad to worse and there doesn't appear to be any light at the end of the tunnel for this young and madly in love devoted couple. Will Callie's father's actions destroy their love completely or will they find their way back to each other?

I admire Callie's strength of character and how she is prepared to risk everything to protect Bronson. Bronson's resentment and anger towards her intensify because of the decision she makes and they are left with what looks like a no win situation.

Gah! This book has me in a state of flux! I don't know how I feel about it.

I'll start with the basics.
Love conquers all... Or does it?
Callie has loved Bronson for as long as she can remember. Growing up was hard for her. A constant disappointment to her father since her birth, she seeks solace in the Agosto family home - the home of her best friend, Bianca, and her brother, Bronson.

When things come to ahead in Callie's household, Bronson steps up but their love for each other is thwarted at every turn.
Can they survive? Can their love conquer all?

I've got to admit that this book got off to a slow start for me but at the same time the story felt rushed. I'm not sure if that makes sense but it took me a while to get into it and where I wanted more information, more emotion, I found it rushed and slightly lacking. And although it's a good story, this detracted from the book for me...

....then BAM! The third part of the book (to me it felt like it was divided into three sections) it all kicks off! It dragged me in and pulled at my emotions and a book that I honestly wasn't that invested in, suddenly had me tearing up and swallowing against the lump that had lodged in my throat!

So a book that started so-so for me, ended up reeling me in. This is why I ALWAYS finish a book, I always persevere because you never know what's just around the corner.

All in all, an enjoyable, well written story - give it a try.

I love a great mafia book – and this was just that – a fantastic mafia book in fact!

The prologue was so powerful – so, so well written…

Callie is daughter to the Underboss (who is horrid) and Brandon is the son of The Boss. They have always had an attraction but I think nothing came of it due to their ages. However a situation arises and Brandon claims Callie. Callie’s father wants control over everything and he will do whatever he needs to do get it, he is a vile man and his behavior escalates….I won’t say anymore as I don’t want to spoil it! Let’s just say there is a twist I never saw coming!

Why I loved this book :

* I loved their love – it was just so pure… beautiful love story in a crime ridden world. ‘Tuo per sempre – I am forever yours’
* This isn’t a typical ‘go in guns blazing’ book
* You can really see the main characters love for each other

So in short, I really liked this book and will definitely read the author again.
