At around 13 pounds here on amazon, this bag from well known brand Belkin is great value. It's light, slim form is ideal for commutes where you'll mostly carry it with you. This suits me perfectly so 5 stars.

However, owing to the lightness and lack of bulkiness, the protective padding is modest so it's perhaps not a bag that you'd put your laptop in for a luggage compartment e.g. on a coach or plane as bumps and knocks during transit may not be absorbed safely enough to protect your laptop. So it's ideal for carrying on your person. That said, if like me your laptop has an SSD drive fitted then your only concern would be the screen being subject to knocks.

The spec for 12" spec should be ample for your notebook/laptop - it fits my 12.1" Lenovo X201S notebook with its extended battery fitted.

It's stylish too and has several compartments to carry your mains power adapter as well as a fold-over cover on the top so that rain will bounce off and not seep through the zips. I would note that this bag is not stated as waterproof but the fold over cover will avoid rain entering inside.

First let me say that this is a very well made bag with plenty of storage. The main compartment is divided into two sections, the rear of which easily holds my 10" tablet in its quite chunky case, leaving the front section for other gadgets that need quick access (or tablet and small laptop). The main flap is held by velcro and always seems to close securely. On the front are two zipped pockets; one that is spacious enough to hold a mobile phone, wallet and more (there are little pockets and storage sections in here to help organise your stuff if you want, the second is a flat type pocket that is handy for small items. On the back (closest to your body) are two more pockets; one quite large (relatively) and one smaller. Both are of a good size and useful, and being "body side", should be pretty secure. The strap is a good length (and of course adjustable) and has a rubber shoulder pad that totally prevents the bag from slipping.

In essence, this is a great gadget bag and I would highly recommend it.

You know us men are always looking for a man bag and like me, I can never find a decent one. I was not looking for a bag to fairy around with, I just wanted one for all activities, work and train journeys Holidays and just going to the pub/restaurant with. I have been searching for a long time and have ended up with bags; that 4 months down the line I have given to the charity shop and yes I mean some top notch bags.
We always say that you only get what you pay for, but like Aldi; for a very long time the stigma attached to this supermarket was of cheap and nasty, But not me, I have always praised Aldi and now everyone is seeing the light. So I say to everyone, although the Belkin is not a Louis Vuitton or a Rolex watch. I would certainly watch this one and you will not go too far for a high quality bag. Strong to boot and very roomy, what more do us men need for the price.

Intended as a gift to a small woman with a 12.1" lappy. I should have studied the dimensions as well as past reviews. 40x34 is quite big. What's more, overall it's easily 6cms thick unless you flatten it.
Easily takes a 14.1" lappy side down, with a 2" gap between the up side and the top of the closed flap, and about 0.5" space at the bottom of the bag. Reckon it would take a 15.4".
Can't comment on durability but seems well made, looks good and good VFM.
Will use it as a rucksack for country walks/picnics via buses.
