I noticed my computer was running slowly and after some extensive searching found that the driver for this appliance was generating a log file which it was adding to all the time it was in use. Eventually this undocumented file reached over 4Gb in size so you can imagine the needless disk activity and memory usage when this file _WLANBelkinServiceRun_.txt was being added to several times a second. Belkin offered no support because it was on Windows 7. Then after rewiring the house and moving the device to a pre-N laptop to give the laptop N+ speed (on Windows XP) they responded quickly with a flat
Unfortunately this is not a known issue and we do not have any information on how to stop the files from loading.
This product is obsolete with no stock available therefore we will not be able to offer a replacement."
I would suggest if you want proper support, buy elsewhere.
I recently decided to install an SSD to replace my old hard disk and had to trim the size of my windows installation, This was when I discovered the existence of the _WLANBelkinServiceRun_.txt file on my drive. It was over 20GB! And it was being added to several times a second.
If you've got a smaller hard drive or you want to make sure that your SSD isn't getting trashed by unnecessary, constant writing of data to a file that appears to serve no useful function (you can delete it - if you disconnect the dongle - and the device will work fine, but it simply starts rewriting to a new version of the file) then you probably want to avoid this device.
As there's no obvious fix and no response from Belkin about the problem, I've dumped mine and bought a TP-Link adapter (TL-WDN3200 N600) that is working just as well, without the glitches, and at the time of writing costs less on Amazon.

It has a habit of hanging whenever there is any other electrical activity in the next door room. This necessitates yet another reset. Most frustrating.
The rest is good. It does what it says on the box and generally works well.
