The use of the Crespi Collection was the main draw to the series, but the story develops more like "the crystal skulls" after the first three Raiders films. Suddenly the lead character turns into super woman, and the super rich guy becomes god like.
The author admits to rushing the book out, and I am afraid this may be the downfall. A little more time may have lead to a much better read, with at least some injection of reality.
OK as an airport / holiday read, but not one that will be re-read countless times to extract every nuance out of the storyline.
Laney teams up with all the characters from her last quest and stands up against some new and brutal villains who will stop at nothing to get what they want. And this time, Henry Chandler a very close friend of Laney is at the heart of it all. Delving deeper into his mysterious character was a huge part of this novel and I promise it didn't disappoint!
Another easy read filled with mystery, murder, and a bit of well placed archeological and biblical history. I'm looking forward to the third novel in the series The Belial Ring coming this summer.
I liked it as it did exactly what I hoped it would - it delivered a good yarn that brought me to a range of exotic locations via a twisting plot line dripping with mystery that was enjoyable to follow. It was good to escape into this as a means to relax after a couple of busy days at work.
While I know that the characters in such adventure novels are not expected to be detailed, I would have liked it however if some of the main characters had a few flaws and came across as a little more normal.
The story has moved on from the Stone to a search for artefacts ancient yet technologically far in advance of what we have now; fascinating, full of miracles, coincidences, genius - but HEY! it's not a textbook so clear your diary and enjoy - I did.
One or two typos, but again far fewer than the first book
