I am an ex-deputy head mistress who now writes fictional novels and short stories. 'A Discerning Woman's Guide to Manhunting' was my debut novel. It took thirty years to research and three years to write.
It's a romantic comedy with a heroine, Geri, aged 60 years and it is written in diary format. Geri is keener to amuse than to shock and although some of her comments are outrageous, they are not obscene. Geri is looking for a man and at over fifty they are thin on the ground. She resorts to advertising in personal columns and joins an introduction agency. She even tries cyber-dating. We join her on some of her dates and discover what she really thinks of her respondents. She records her experiences in a manual called 'Witch Guide to Manhunting' , advising other women how to get their man and pitfalls to avoid.
David Nobbs, novelist and TV scriptwriter, creator of legendary sit-com character, Reginald Perrin writes,' This is a delightful and very funny book about a spirited woman fighting against ageist and sexual stereotypes. It will give the over-fifties lots of laughs, a few tears and some real hope.'
