Describe your products in 3 words.
Uncomplicated. Adventurous. Fun.
How did you come up with the idea for this product?
It was simply a problem that we found frustrating ourselves so decided that instead of complaining we'd try and do something about it! We originally started with the idea of just a beautifully designed compass for a bike, but then thought we could make that smarter - Beeline was born.
What makes your product special?
It's completely different from any kind of cycling navigation device out there at the moment in so many ways. We've put a huge amount of effort into making it beautiful and extremely easy to use. From the strap that connects to any bike in seconds to the intuitive app interface and the month long battery life. Of course the most distinct element is the form of navigation that not only gets you from A to B effectively but liberates you and helps you explore your surroundings
What has been the best part of your experience?
There have been so many great moments along the way. A couple of real highlights have been the Kickstarter campaign, when the world told us they loved what we were making, and then a year on when the first batch of Beelines finally rolled of the production line in their thousands. However, I think the best thing has been building a team of amazingly fun, talented people who we now have the privilege of working with every day

I agree with harrietl’s review 0 April 2017 so I won’t repeat those points.
I have used it in the city and on off-road paths across large parks. I have not tried it on a day ride yet but I can see no reason that it won’t work well.
When you plan a journey there is a ‘Route assistant’. When this is on you just enter the destination and it works out, from the map on the phone, a series of way points. This works well but can not, understandably, handle off road cycle paths that it does not know about. I these cases I turn off ‘Route assistant’ and put in the way points manually. Setting a series of way points is a little awkward on Android as you have to add them in sequence whereas I understand you on iPhones you can set the destination and then add way points.
There was a recent software upgrade that allows the unit to self calibrate, it takes 30 seconds or so at the start of the ride so I no longer do the calibration procedure.
There is a ‘UI orientation’ option which simply switches up/forward on the device, you can mount the device on the handle bars or at 90 degrees on the stem.
It looks like the screen is ‘eInk’ as used in Kindles. This gives good visibility in direct sunlight and keeps the battery life long. I’m just about to recharge for the first time after 15+ hours usage.
From the device you can see state of charge of the device and your phone. It does not seem to drain the phone much more than usual.
The device did pop off my handle bars once, possibly because my DIY mount did not tension the rubber casing much. This may not be a problem for most users. I’ve added a simple Velcro safety strap just in case.
Only negative is that it relies on phone, but drains phone battery (but it is a fairly old iPhone 5S, a newer phone may be better). So only really reliable for a couple of hours, so doesn't work well for day- rides. That said, my husband puts it on to guide him when he's not sure of route, then turns it off again, and back on again when needed.
The first one did not go into sleep mode so the battery was draining in a day with zero use. Wanting to give it a second try I exchanged it ....... The second one did not connect with my phone constantly and I had to pair and unpair each use.
I would recommend you spend the 100 pounds on a pair of beats x and use Google maps for turn by turn in your pocket!
Beeline is a hardy little thing that really helps me explore my city.
