Edith Merriweather.
Is exactly how you will feel at the end of Becoming Lady Thomas and at the beginning of Becoming Countess Dumont and you're all set for hating her throughout the book too. Especially after what she done to her sister.

" I smile seductively at him. I told him all of the naughty things I wanted him to do to me. Since he was trying desperately to hold on to his virginity for Elisabeth, I thought I would relieve him of some of his pain."

While in the first book in this sister Elisabeth was forced into the marriage with Jasper Thomas, Edith is more than willing to sign a contract with Alexander Dumont to enter a loveless marriage. Elisabeth wants a better life for herself where she can also indulge in all the men she pleases.
Alexander can use Edith to trick his father into believing he is settled enough to be trusted it with inheritance. He can have a wife to indulge in while being able to have his fair share of women on the side. Alexander is wicked yet vulnerable in ways. And hot in every way!

Jealousy and possessiveness. Past and present. Truth and lies. Everything gets blurred, everything changes, as well as your opinion on these character's. When you go deeper with these characters, you learn there is so much more to them than what they set out to be in the start. A lot of the time - pretty much all the time I wouldn't have excused, accepted or forgiven Edith's actions but hell she near broke my heart a little. Love has the power to break someone and also fix them and heal the soul. K Webster never fails to portray that.

These are novella's but they have just as much impact as a full length novel and I don't read historical books at all but this series is one of my favorite's.

I absolutely LOATHED Edith at first but changed my mind after reading her story.
She was absolutely redeemed and it turns out she is just very misunderstood. Alexander came across as a character I would also dislike but again my mind was changed. I fell in love with both of these characters and wish there was more of their story to read.
5 worthy stars.

5.0 out of 5 stars K. Webster has done it again!!! 4 May 2015
By Tiffany Williams - Published on Amazon.com

"I slide a palm up her cheek and stroke her gently. This shouldn't feel so comfortable. However, I find myself relaxing and losing consciousness as I hold this woman. My wife.
When did things change?"

Holy WOW!!
After I read Becoming Lady Thomas, I was hooked! I had to know what happened to Edith and Alexander. Their story was just what I'd hoped it would be! Even if they started out as just an agreement, it didn't take long to see more in each other's eyes. Maybe it was something they saw all along, but didn't want to believe it.

When reading the first book, I thought Edith was very spoiled and didn't seem to truly care about her sister's feelings. This book showed that Edith is much more fragile than she led on. She was actually broken, but was strong enough to push through it all. I found myself loving her!

"A woman like myself really could fall for a man like him. She wouldn't even have to try that hard."

Alexander. Whoa, buddy! That man is mysterious, sexy, sweet, and he loves his mama! That's a plus! Ha!
Did I mention sexy? Because Lawd!!
The best thing I liked about him was that he also was fighting an internal battle -- a battle of acceptance from his family. He was now ready to prove his worth and Edith was his perfect partner.

"It will have to be us against them."

The more time Edith and Alexander spent together, the more they realized the attraction couldn't be denied. Trust me. The heat was melting off the pages. I found myself fanning my face quite a few times! I swear, I think that words sound even more sexy when the story is set back in time!
K. Webster knows how to write a historical romance!!

"This man makes no sense to me. I hate him, yet...I don't. I simply don't. In fact, I crave more of him. I crave the urge to slap him and then let him screw me senseless."

"Edith infuriates me yet turns me on. She is crazier than any loon at an asylum, yet I want to keep her as mine."

I'm telling you!!! This book was just great! I loved getting to know Edith and Alexander more, meeting his family, and getting to see Elizabeth and Jasper again. These characters have settled in my brain and I NEED MORE!!

I will sit by and *patiently* wait for the next book. I'm counting down the days! Keep these historical romances coming Mrs. Webster! You truly have a gift for them:)

"He thinks he'll have to pleasure me to get me to crave him. Well, he's incorrect in that thinking.
I'm already hopelessly addicted to him."

"It baffles me how this woman was just as lonely and lost as I was six months ago. And now? Now, we're each other's everything."

4.0 out of 5 stars Give Edith a chance 19 May 2015
By Michelle - Published on Amazon.com

I dragged my feet on starting to read this one because I'm not a fan of Edith. She came off as selfish, money hungry, calculating and willing to throw her sisters under the bus - not very admirable qualities in the oldest sister. Willing agreeable to an arranged marriage for show with Alexander Dumont, Edith isn't deluding herself into thinking that this marriage is authentic with everlasting love, but at least she will be rich and able to do as she pleases as long as she plays the part. Alexander and Edith have definite chemistry but otherwise they ignore each other. I did become more empathetic towards Edith as it became obvious that she craved to be wanted, needed and loved just like anybody else. She actually is remorseful about her past behavior and truly does care about her sisters. Alexander is nothing like Jasper, he isn't trying to sweep Edith off her feet with charm and finesse, he's got his own agenda to fulfill even if he can't stop thinking about her. Can their relationship be more than a contract? For 2 people who weren't planning on finding love, could they actually be perfect for each other off paper as well? This story isn't sweet and swoony like the first one, more like tempestuous and spitfire but still does the characters justice.

5.0 out of 5 stars K Webster rocks historical romance! 19 April 2015
By N Miller - Published on Amazon.com

I am not going to lie, when I finished Becoming Lady Thomas I had absolutely no love for Edith and I thought Alexander was nothing more than a pompous and arrogant player, albeit an extremely sexy, pompous and arrogant player. I went into this story with my mind made up on how I thought it should go, but because Ms. Webster is so very good at what she does, she changed my mind before I even knew it was happening. FYI, I liked her story way better than the one I had formed in my head ☺.

Edith and Alexander are just two really misunderstood individuals, with serious trust issues, but somehow they come together and form an unbreakable bond and you will find yourself routing for them. I know I was and I hated her at the beginning of the story. They actually become kinda cute together and when they get together between the sheets make sure you have a fan handy!

“You’re absolutely stunning tonight, Edith. I haven’t been able to take my eyes from you most of the night. My hands are eager to caress your sensitive flesh that’s hidden under your dress. I’m practically watering at the mouth at the very idea of sampling what I had the opportunity of pleasuring earlier this afternoon. Dear wife, please let me make good on my promise behind closed doors later.”

This was another great read for me and I can’t wait until the youngest Merriweather sister gets her story!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Liked Second Book In Series Better 2 May 2015

Edith is sister to Elisabeth in the first story she and her sister are on the outs with each other .She slept with William her love while they were in college . Elisabeth was at home waiting for him to graduate and marry her. Edith was wilder and lost her virginity long ago. She had. been hurt by her two affairs she was only being used by both men. Alexander needed a faux wife he decided after talking to Jasper that Edith would be the ideal wife. He promised her all the money. Jewels even all the lovers she wanted.she would also be the Countess DuPont.
I felt bad for her on her wedding night she thought that he might sleep with her that one night but he already had a whore waiting at the inn for him.. She started with her own lovers the same night after that. They went on for six months like this having sex with others right next door to each other .They could hear each other's moans and groans. They were beginning to be a little jealous of the other. She was almost killed one night by one of her lovers.Alex was with his whore and was awhile before he came to save her. He decided then no more men for her he promised he wouldn't have a lover either but did not know if he could stick to it.
He took her home to meet his family and show of the wife he pretended to love madly. He had to prove it to his father especially. His brother was his father's favorite. I think if interested you should read the book see if anyway they can find a HEA. He even has a old lover working at his parents that was determined he would not be with Edith. I liked this book better then first book this had a little more of a story to it The other was more sex less of a story in my opinion. The last sister has her story next.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Redemption of Edith!!! 21 April 2015
By Wendy - Published on Amazon.com

K has done it again!! We met Edith in the first book in the series but we don't really know her. I don't think she knew herself really. Agreeing to become Countess Dumont was one of the greatest things for both Edith and Alexander. When we first met Edith I hated her. I didn't think redemtion would be possible for the evil whore. Shame on me for doubting the mad skills of K Webster. I grew to understand and love Edith. Alexander was harsh and seemed to be careless when it came to the feelings of his new bride. When they make the treck back home to convince his Father is when they learn that the hidden truths are so much greater than all their lies. Now that the two have a taste of what true love really is will they choose to discover it together? This is a beautiful story of finding love in the least likely of places.
