I got this book after being recommend The beck diet solution book, I chose this one over the other as it takes you step by step through diet techniques that help you lose weight and keep it off. Yes you do have to follow the book day by day, it is based on CBT (cognitive behaviour therapy) and teaches you among other things how to recognise, negative thoughts and destruction behaviours and shows you how to achieve a new way to lose weight. You keep a record of your food and fill in a journal every night. I have so far lost over a stone of excess weight and my friend that I recommend it to has also lost lots of weight and kept it off. If you think you can follow the plan for 6 weeks and be true to your self about your eating then this is a good book for you. I have now finished the 6 weeks and found it so good that I am going straight back to week one to do it again until I have lost all my excess weight.

For my money, this is the best of the Beck Diet Books. It is easy to follow, very clear and quick to fill out each day. I liked that I could choose my own diet, which was the CSIRO total wellbeing diet by Manny Noakes. It was a successful combination. Beck Diet workbook is highly recommended and it works!! Changing eating and other behaviours is the key. The Beck Diet's success lies in its common sense. It makes you think and reflect on unhelpful patterns and its positive outlook is a boost when things are difficult.

If you want more information to help you, then the Beck Diet Solution is a good companion. The Complete Beck diet is less successful, I think, because it is too fiddly, too much added on to the original scheme but the Beck Diet Workbook is great. Not only did I lose weight but have kept it off without any problem.

This is the best, most practical of the Beck books, complete with cut-out cards for the promptings you need. It really works. Friends in the UK, Ireland and the US have made a real change in their approach to food as a result of this book, and we are all reaping the benefits. I find that I enjoy food a lot more than I used to. Thanks Dr Beck.

first thing - you DO NOT need to buy this workbook AS WELL AS the main book!

if you are just coming to the beck diet, you only need this workbook as it is an update of the main book and not a complimentary text. the books can be used together, but are very redundant and at times do not line up 100%.

all of the tools in this book are worthwhile and interesting and easy to implement in a life-long diet strategy. the book can be picked up wherever you may be in your diet journey. i was pretty much at the end of my losing stages and entering into expanding my diet and maintaining and have found it enormously helpful and worthwhile - BUT YOU DO HAVR TO MAKE TIME FOR IT. this is not a book that you will read and put down and that is it, it needs to be used daily to help break old habits and instigate new ones.

only real complaint??
that not all sources are sited.
which in fact, does plant a seed of doubt that i could do without!
in future prints i hope that this is rectified, because wherever it says 'research proves' then it needs to be backed up by actual data...otherwise it's just another pop psychology tome.

Fabulous. Lost 5 pounds in the first five days when i was not even supposed to be dieting. I normally eat without thinking and basically 'hoover' anything i feel like eating. This trains you to think before you act and it has made an amazing difference already.

I bought this as I dispare of myself sometimes. I cant stick to a diet. It is suited to me because i like things to work through and little tips and exercises etc. however the faffing around aside it seems to be working. It has given me a new perspective and Im now on day 10 and have found the tips from the book actually stick in my brain and Im paying attention to them. You need to follow it thoroughly as i find when i miss a day I dont do as well but it is in my opinion well worth a tenner.

No actual diet, but the daily piece to read, the pages to fill in, graph to complete makes this an excellent help. I find myself thinking of some mantra such as a simple 'sit to eat' which can make me pause.
